If its not a unit your familiar with, should be asking for assistance from other drivers or traffic manager and if its an analogue, you’ll find it handy to have something like this with you

What the [zb] is an analogue digital tachograph, either it analogue or it’s digital it can’t be both

Are you talking about something like this.

Or one of these.

I bet its the top one because its got a digi window display

That’s what I think to, I put the Stoneridge in just on the off chance.

Get a app for your smartphone if you have one, it’s called truckertimer it takes care of everything(driving, wtd, weekly rests etc)

tachograph:

Which one ?

You need to be a bit clearer Davy, we still don’t know if you’re talking about a digital tachograph or an analogue tachograph.

If it’s a digital tachograph it will almost certainly be a Siemens or Stoneridge, as far as I’m aware there is only Siemens, Stoneridge and Actia, and so far I’ve never even seen an Actia in a lorry.

If it’s the analogue tachograph it will most likely be similar to the one above (first image).

the following 2 pictures show what an ANALOGUE tacho look’s like
where the you need to count the hours dependent on the movment of the truck … the best way when using an Ann tacho is to write your times down or get a clock as said …
you might have to enlarge the picture to read it easier… an analogue taco will NOT count up your hour like a DIGI will

Pretty sure it’s an analogue going by this picture… But why say digi right after analogue? :open_mouth: It’s a bit like talking about the minute hand on a digital watch…

Djc you nailed it. Thats it

As it looks like a digi but is in fact an analogue ( was used as the crossover from analogue to digi IIRC )

I have a timer with me as some of our fleet are analogue like the 1 in the pic above we also have digi

There used to be 4 digi you forgot the Grundig ( sp ) although never seen 1 of them

While using an analogue tachograph you need to keep a record of your driving hours and breaks as you go, some people used to use a timer and notebook to keep track of how much driving they’d done.

If you want to know how to read a chart to work out your driving time:

Each of the short lines on the outside of the chart is 5 minutes, the thick line near the inside is driving time as marked on the image, use a ruler or straight edge from the centre of the chart to read how much driving time you’ve done.

Be careful not to damage or erase any part of the graph as you check it.

Thanks tacograph
