Household sockets

Guys i have inhereted a truck which has 2 household sockets conected direct to the battery my question is if you have an item that charges on 12 volt lighter socket can you change this to a house hold plug and use these sockets

Theoretically, yes but be careful with the polarity and fusing. Also double-check it’s only going to one battery cell and not across the two which will be 24v.

I would change them to small Anderson connectors with an inline fuse.

have a similar set up in my cab. a normal household extension lead but instead of a 3 pin plug it has the anderson plug on.
kettle /fridge and oven has 3 pin household plugs on and so does a ciggy triple socket extension lead. have had it like that for a few years now and been ok.

ive wired in house hold sockets and there brill,my 24v compressor fridge was forever melting cigar type plugs with movement and arcing now the connection spot on.ive also got the 24v electric oven and kettle and they work great.new plugs are only 45p in tesco so it saves money too

So imm asuming you leave fuse in the plug and you wire it the same any appliance

yes mate i leave the 13 amp fuses in place ant it works fine, all the items i run like a bit of current
