Hourly wage.

How about this:

HGV driver’s earn a poor rate of pay and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Reason being; HGV driver’s are 10 a penny!

How about this; man joins forum with express intention of “stirring things up a bit”, he does indeed proceed to stir things up a little, but gradually just gets ignored, man then becomes pet poodle to Bach Home (who incidentally does actually appear to be capable of independent thought and deed) by adding +1 to each of his posts, man then just appears needy.

Think the bromance attempt was rejected on the thread thats down for moderator cleaning, I felt awkward reading it so hope V40’s feelings arent too badly hurt.

Hourly pay topics are getting so boring now.

Oh joy, another wage thread! I wonder how this one will turn out!

damoq - Is that because of the physicality of the Class C work?

As I see Bidvest, Brakes, etc. offering wages above quite a lot of some Class C+E work…

I guess as far as the employers are concerned, they only offer what it will take to get some interest in a job. So if they have a glut of people only wanting to do C+E, and no one wanting to do basic Class C, that’s what is going to happen…

P.S. I hate this C and C+E, can’t we go back to class 1 & 2 :imp:

I work for Bidvest/3663 or whatever you wanna call 'em, up until 8 or 9 years ago when on the rigids, we were on 25.5k at my old depot…think it’s up around 28k (tbc) now but the workload has increased a fair bit! I’m a sad, lonely ‘night trunker’ these days, though I’d hardly call 1900-0100 nights (more an inconvenience to my evening  ) but my annual salary is greater than the amount of hrs I put in per week so a good wage is available on the artics but I reckon the above point about a glut of class 1/lower pay could be correct, plus class 1 work is normally bulk tip, loads of driving etc etc and multi drop, you earn it! You only have to read on here occasionally about people wanting night trunk pallet runs and the like because they don’t wanna work for a living or fancy big bucks for doing naff all…ain’t many Co’s willing to pay £13/hr for sitting around for hrs on end…or is there?

I give credit to anyone, wherever I see fit. You would do also, if you were to actually say something that I would consider to be valid, sensible and worthy of applaud. I have not yet seen you demonstrate this, you moronic toe rag.

    . You are a funny child.

I have just done a quick search, FLT are paying £6.50 - £8 on average. most hgv £8-£12

Well at least it’s the norm ish. Thanks for input guys. I’m kinda one of the drivers who thinks is it worth the hassle on class 1 for extra £1ph. And some good advice on taking into account the job and not just the money. I am new to civillian work life and I am a hard worker who is willing to put the hours in but I don’t want to be ripped off. I appreciate all the help and advice even the critical blanc statement lol

Its not just about the money though. Class 1 work normally is just a different job to Class 2. It depends on whether you want fewer runs, more distance and possibility of trunking or trailer swaps to multidrop and local runs to shops or customers houses etc. The other thing is if the class 1 works dries up after xmas he has the option of going to do class 2 and if he is a full timer a company may be able to supplement class 2 for him whereas a class 2 is stuck to that class.

Thanks Alder, rub it in mate!

But I do agree with you and I’ll get my Class 1 for that very reason. Not for the guarantee of extra money, as the rates are marginal.

And when I’m your age  I’ll need an afternoon nap in an RDC! :grimacing:

How can you overpay management if you don’t screw drivers?

Do bidvest and brakes use best practice for unloading .if not there’s a premium on wages for breaking health and Safety amongst the catering pub chains to pretend health and Safety is a silly idea …can’t say for brakes and bidvest but most know they are breaching regs .so they get agency to mitigate the criminal risk.be an accountant
