Bring a pillow!
It’s a lot of waiting and a lot of being messed around. If you’re a relaxed kind of dude, you won’t have a problem. Beware of the tankers on the perimeter road, they drive like complete helmets.
Oh, also lots of minicabs to avoid, plus there used to be a Police checkpoint on the roundabout sometimes, don’t know if there still is. Few tight-ish sheds around Stanwell, beware of the 18t limit on ■■■■■ Road, and if you go to Feltham that way, you will get done by the box-junction camera if you’re not very careful.
BP garage on A30 is always full of Prius driving tools blocking the HGV exit, the one on the A4 Colnbrook bypass is better but has a low canopy. Be prepared for lots of paperwork ■■■■■ and badge-wearing.
It’s not the worst job though, all in all!

I do airfreight and we don’t do much handball work. 1 job a week at a place in Leeds and the blokes there all chip in and help.
At collection, some freight comes out in airfreight skids\cages\nets and you have to handball the goods out of these and onto your wagon.
Don’t worry though, the forkies won’t help and you will have an audience of drivers watching you… good luck!
If you have to load a load of loose boxes, make sure you get the box count right. You may get sent to collect a shipment which is say 180 cartons. The handlers will have loaded them onto pallets but you will still be collecting 180 boxes, so don’t be afraid to count all the boxes to make sure you have the correct number. The pallets will have all different numbers of boxes on them, so sometimes a bit of their sticky paper stuck to the back post on the rear pillar of the vehicle and count the stuff by the pallet as it comes in to the vehicle. If they are going to do it like that, make sure you have some empty pallets with you and swap them over otherwise you will be stripping off the pallets and loading it on the floor then reloading the same stuff back onto pallets at the other end.
If you carry wooden crates with the tip and tell indicators on them, make sure that the indicator is ok before you deliver or collect the crate. Had one refused one night as it moved on the way round a bend going to Dnata city and it was a PITA. Keep an eye out for anything that looks to have been tampered with or forklift damage and you can refuse to accept it from the shed. If you need to, take photos, show them to your agents and let them make the decisions.
Most of the cargo handlers around the sheds are pretty helpful and after a few weeks you will get to know them.
The horseshoe varies depending on who you are dealing with .
World cargo center is a lot of queuing and can be a pita if you are sent to the wrong section .
Remember patience is a virtue and as others have said there are loads of twunts driving like idiots around all the airports .
Some places will sort problems with paperwork out with little fuss others will just send you away .
It certainly is not boring .
