Horrifying Ambulance Death

This is often truck drivers worst fear isn’t it. Tho it’s not said it was thrown yet so I’m reserving judgement. Horrifying situation whatever the circumstances

So far it doesn’t say anything about an object being thrown or dropped from a bridge. So you may have jumped the gun slightly. It could equally just be a tragic circumstance of events, even a small stone thrown from a truck wheel or a lose object falling off another vehicle. So as Switchlogic says I’ll reserve judgement on it.
Condolences to the guys family and friends. Another person just doing their job and not going home.

time for all vehicle to have laminated glass on windscreen i’mthinking

It did have a laminated windscreen, that’s why there is a hole in it rather than it being shattered. I don’t think any vehicle windscreen has been made from toughened glass for decades.

Isn’t an ambulance technician not as highly trained as a paramedic?

As you say nowadays it’s more than van driving and knowing where the switch for the siren is:

healthcareers.nhs.uk/explor … -paramedic

Police are saying now that it is not being treated as foul play.

"Today, West Mercia Police said an investigation was ongoing into the exact circumstances of the tragic incident but ‘it is not believed to be foul play’.

West Midlands Ambulance Service emergency operations delivery director Nathan Hudson said the incident was a ‘tragic accident’ and not believed to be ‘malicious’. "

It did seem an odd one, maybe the newspapers jumped the gun a bit, there was no bridge or embankment to throw something off,

An EMT. - Emergency Medical Technician normally works along side a Paramedic as a two man crew.

A technician could be a trainee paramedic and could work alone or as part of a team.

Yes I thought unusual as police weren’t saying ‘looking for suspects’ and hedging their bets

Currently being reported as a stone that fell off a passing lorry that was on way to a local quarry

Daily mail readers already calling for the truck driver to be prosecuted for an unsecured load.

Gonna have stock up on ratchet straps boys and make sure each rock and stone is fully tied down.

Well, whatever the outcome I don’t think it should be dismissed as “just one of those things”. Stones should not fall from lorries and kill people.

Yep tipper bodies are designed to contain a load they aren’t flats or curtainsiders.
It then all depends on the common sense of the driver and the difference is nothing new. :bulb:

There is a quarry just up the road from where the accident happened, I travel that road almost daily for work, no bridges for anyone to throw something off of but lots of artic and rigid bulkers going to and from the quarry.

With all the modern day load security that covers tippers and bulkers maybe the rock stuck between twin wheels and then thrown out type of scenario. :bulb:
