Good luck for the test mate. I’m just going to put up with crap hours and money in the new year until I get that ‘recent experienced’ required box ticked on job applications that could lead to a perm full time, fair wage driving job.
Meanwhile, I guess I will have to put up with phone calls like the one today: 2 am start Boxing day, probs a 10-12 hour day @ £8 an hour :frowning:

WHAT £8 a hour at 2 am Boxing Day. Holy Christ! That is basically slave wages. I said I would do Boxing Day, for no less then £30 p/h. I did say I would work xmas day for £60 a hour. The other days I don’t care about, but if you want my family time you will pay haha! Seriously I would not entertain £8 even for experience my time is worth more.

I know mate. What does grip my ■■■■ is the fact the agency WILL be charging the company I drove for probably £30-40 an hour. I haven’t said I will do it yet mind. Kids have left home but some I haven’t seen in a few years and they are looking to come down this way over the weekend, if they do. Sod the agency lol.

Just don’t be afraid too say no. Remember they don’t give a ■■■■ about you. The agency im using over xmas phoned me today saying we might have a job tomorrow we might not. Don’t get me wrong they pay well (£11 for class 2 work) and it’s not bad for what it is, but I was offered a temporary low loader job for 2 weeks so I’ve taken that (£15 p/h class 1) also better experience. I wouldn’t take that Boxing Day job mate, unless you are super desperate… you never know if they get desperate that rate might rise :wink:

Good point mate, cheers. I also got a call off another agency I registered with months ago today asking my availability over xmas and new year. I’ve phoned them every week for ages to say I’m available but never hear back from them till today.

Generally agencies are scum, as they are there to make money for themselves, not for you! :wink:
Hence if they can get some mug to work for £8 an hour Boxing day, they will… So I’d suggest you think of a figure that you think is acceptable, ‘politly’ decline’ their offer of 8 quid, and say you’ll be available for X per hour if they want you. They may call back they may not, and that will depend on them finding another mug! :laughing:

BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T DO A SHIFT UNLESS YOU HAVE THE RATE IN WRITING FIRST!!!
