Anyone heard of Hope Cement ?.
Anyone any experience of bulk cement, sounds like a dirty horrible job, is it ?.
Its the new title for Tarmac Ready mix concrete which is part of Tarmac aggregates which is probably getting a new title as well.

It was a new company formed from the bits that had to be sold off by Tarmac/lafarge.
Have delivered bulk cement to various places, can be clean job or not depending if you deliver to building sites. The customers i have been to have been good tips mainly on customers own premises.
We do cement out of cemex at rugby. The plant is nice and clean, and we generally only do merchants so it’s fairly clean work. It’s just the h&s bs and the staff attitude at rugby that isn’t very good
When we used to go in there it was lafarge. We were delivering bulk cement not bagged. It has altered slightly but not much.One of the subbies we use used to do alot out of there,but cannot do anything now,he reckons they have put barriers across, hanging down from the roof to stop tall trucks from going under, so basically if your running anything other than a cf,premium,low cab MAN,etc forget it.
If you can get under loading is a doddle, in and out in under 15 minutes. Deliveries will be mainly to local(ish) concrete plants or stock transfers to anywhere.Some concrete plants are actually very clean some are as you would imagine.

I’ve been considering doing some tanker work out of Hope,but I’ve been informed topline scanias,mega space and any other large tractor won’t fit under the loading bays and you can’t back on to the bridge. It use to be clean when i worked outa there years ago, you’d be loaded in 10minutes,drive through the shower onto the weigh bridge and away. Mega hills to climb on your way out no matter where your going.
Anything with a high roof is a non-starter. Also your right about the hills, it`s either a climb towards Tideswell or an even bigger climb to fight your way through Sheffield.
