I’ve got a full time job on Cat C starting this Monday so I was going to wait until then, but today an agency rang me and booked me for a driving job for tomorrow. Leicester to Preston and back, it’s 7.5 ton but it’s on the tacho, (GULP! never even seen one before
let alone used one), it’s on my own and it’s paid work. So I might be a day premature but I can’t wait and am now changing my profile occupation to Driver. It may seem like a little thing but I’m so ridiculously excited I had to post on here.
Well done
You don’t appear to have changed your profile though
Oh yeah Forgot that part I’ll do it now. duh
Nice one I can still remember the excitement (+fear) of my first class 2 job
and its no little thing, your doing what you dreamed of doing dont let anyone tell you different
Jx
well done & good luck, let us know how you get on .
To be honest it’s not the driving or any of the crap that drivers have to take that has me worried. It’s the tacho! I don’t know if it will be a digi or old type but I don’t have a clue about them, never even seen a digi one before and I am picking up tomorrow at a place where I think there will be no other drivers to ask.
I leave here at noon tomorrow to go collect the truck so anyone who has some idiot proof advice for me, feel free.

And this is still only near the beginning of the dream, it just gets bigger and bigger; just like the trucks hopefully. Thanks Jen I’ll keep dreaming if you will.

Thanks Smallsie but now I’m even more confused, don’t know which of the three types I’ll get and it spends so much time showing how to sign off after your last shift before starting today’s work and I don’t have a last shift. This must have happened to lots of us though so if I can’t find a fellow driver to help I’m just gonna wing it. I bet I’m making a mountain out of a molehill and will soon be wondering what all the fuss was about.
Most digital tachograph in this country are Siemens, obviously there’s a chance you’ll get a Stoneridge but they’re not as common as Siemens so I’d learn that and hope for the best.
I’ve never even seen an Actia so don’t lose any sleep over that, it’s a million to one against getting an Actia
See if these help
THANKS Tachograph,
I think I love you and want to marry you and have your babies
except; I’m already married
and I can’t have babies
And I love my wife
Oh well, lets just leave it at a big thank you then…ta!
Rich
PS. Anyone got a printer?
