Home for Christmas

mushroomman:
Thanks Andy for all your super stories throughout the year, it’s amazing how many of them remind me of similar situations that I was in over the years just like it must do for a lot of the other lads on here. For example, this story has just reminded me that on this day in 1980 (was it really 34 years ago :unamused: ) I was in Zeebrugge waiting to get on a Townson Thorenson boat which left about 0600 hrs and after a very quick clearance in Dover I arrived in the yard in Stockport at 9 p.m. I still managed to make last orders in my local pub as well as a bit of extra time  unlike my mate Ken who arrived in Zeebrugge about 5 p.m. and spent the next two days at the Fina garage.
I hope that you and your family have a great Christmas and a fabulous new year and I shall look forward to reading more of your memories in the near future.

Regards Steve.

A big plus on this one, I also have all these memory’s spinning around in my head but I could never put them to paper as you do. please continue with the writings as it keeps the memory’s flowing, have a great Christmas

Great, thanks Andy.

Andy
A most enjoyable read, all of you guys who did that type of work are to be congratulated for having such patience and fortitude in doing a job made extremely difficult at times by the different cultures and rules and regulations of the countries you traveled through.

Cheers DIG

Thanks to Jazzandy, well done to him and all the other fellas who do that type of work, it takes a special kind of man to take something like that on…and then go back for more.

Thanks guys for your kind comments. There will be more in the New Year and I’ll be posting the next episode of ‘A typical trip to Tehran’ very shortly.

Great writing Andy, it certainly inspires others to try to write down their own experiences, but, it’s not as easy as you make it look.
Pete
