Over the last couple of weeks i have been asking other drivers if they are issued with holiday forms or Activity Confirmation/Attestation d’Activité / Bescheinigung.
For those that don,t know what this is it is a form to say that you have not been working or off sick especially if the truck has done work when you are off.
Supriseingly only one in ten drivers have even heard of it, even though i am sure it is law in the UK well.
The last few firms i have worked for have issued them.
I’ve heard of them and used them, even when I was an O/D I filled them in and signed them myself to explain holidays or periods of non work. Mainly the French who ask for them in my experience although I have also had to produce them to Germans and Belgians on more than one occasion.
This was the one I used.
i have used them before ,i have only produced them in france though .
I have a pad of them in one of my lockers. The only time I use them though is weeks like the next one. I finished work at 2am Thursday and cos I was having 3 days off, my unit has been used for the last couple of days. Normally, the unit is parked near home so the mileometer is unchanged when I am on weekly rest.
The French are really keen on them and they will need to cover all working days for which you have no tacho records.
I was once pulled on the Périphérique (Fnarr, fnarr ) by a motorcycle cop just after Easter.
I’d been off the week before, so my boss had supplied me with a holiday form, covering the period from the previous Monday up to and including the Thursday.
He neglected to include the Friday (Good Friday) as this was a public holiday in Germany. BUT NOT IN FRANCE
Le cop wanted to do me for a missing tacho disc but after a 1/2 hour roadside tête-à -tête on varying public holidays in Europe we agreed that my boss was a buffoon and should be boiled in oil
To this day I don’t know how I got away with my wallet intact My arguing powers in French must be better than I thought
They were a regular issue in our lockers in Belgium,
Yes, we use them whenever someone goes to France if he doesn’t have a full month’s worth of tachos.
ther is a new style one now that you download from vosa website and it has to be filled in on the puter , i.e. not by biro, crayon or lipstick , i was asked for mine 3 weeks ago by the kermits at la jonquera , very good he said and waved me on didnt even open the trailer doors , what a nice man
this was a stop by gendarmes ,duanes and anybodies brother who wasnt busy doing sod all that day
