our holidays were jan- jan, under our new contract there april-april , so what happens about the jan -april when you 1st go on it , are you entitled to holidays for that jan- apr period , if so how many. ta
Your annual entitlement would be divided by 12 (months) and this is how many days holiday you are entitled to each month.
If say you get 24 days a year then you would get 6 days total for Jan, Feb & March, 2 a month.
you holidays would be pro rate for that period
at the mo you are entitled to 16 day holiday plus 8 bank hols by law
in April you will get 20 plus 8 b/hols
so if you contract say Jan to DEC and lets you have 24 days hols that would be two per month so for three months you should get 6 days and the in April you would be entitled ed to you full hols as outlined in your contract
this would be that you have not taken your hols

That’s for a 5 day week, it will vary depending on your regular working week. It works out at 4.8 x your week and can include Bank and Public Holidays. If you work a 4 day week it would be 19.3 days and a 6 day week would give you 28.8 days.
If you do a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern it gets a little more complicated to make the calculation I think as you don’t have a fixed number of working days per week. It is worked out over a 17 week reference period.
After April this year the calculation is made using 5.6 instead of 4.8.
If you are a shift worker your leave is calculated by using an average of your shifts over a 17 week period;
If you do 4on 4off (continental pattern)then the average working week is three and half 12 hour shifts.So 4.8weeks holiday is 4.8 x 3.5=16.8 12 hour shifts (rising to 5.6 weeks from April 2009 or 5.6x3.5=19.6 12 hour shifts)
