Hobbies?

Just purely out of interest,

What hobbies do you have when your not working?

I used to be really into my Jet Ski’s and Camper vans. But after selling them to gather some cash for the arrival of my little girl, I tend just to fly big petrol RC planes with my old man, also get out on my Mountain Bike as much as possible. I also dabble a little bit at photography too and i play drums for a band as well, but i dont really see this as a hobby as i do get paid for it…

what do you do in your spare time, weather it be sitting in the pub, playing with motorbikes etc etc

Used to help out on a steam railway but travelling costs and the expectation to be there for 12 hours or more per day put me off. I even cancelled my membership when they allowed a derelict station they’d been given first refusal on to be bulldozed, in favour of building a new one. Not really preservation is it?
Got a model railway in the loft that’s had nothing done to it really in about 5 years. Cost, lack of time and an 18month old son have put that on hold.

buying and selling cars  :sunglasses:

Motorbikes, mountain bikes & next year I’m gonna have a go at wind surfing

Kayaking and canoeing

Off duty I like to practice sitting very, very still for hours on end.

A bit like on duty really!

winding the wife up, but i also find this as a passion

i’m into mountain biking, although not getting out on it as much as i used to, this last year just tended to go out on the trips away. where do you ride?

rc heli’s, i’ve got a raptor 30 in the garage that hasn’t left the ground in a while and i was only a beginner with it anyway, but i’ve just bought a 4 channel indoor chinook  quite fancy a go with planes though. any pics or vids of ya plane?

gsxr 750 road bike, i did a track day at cadwell last year and was aiming at doing some more this year, but never got round to it, next year! used to ride quads, crossers and pit bikes

weights, running and that’s about the lot!

Model railways, I have built loads of them, ones that filled a room and I once had a steam railway in my back garden.

The last model railway I built was a bit smaller, a project to build a model railway inside a Ferrero Rocher box. It’s a Hornby locomotive, and I printed all the scenery off on the PC. It lights up from a 9v smoke detector battery, or I could plug it into the truck’s 12v.

Obviously it was all tax-deductible.

Playing FIFA, playing football, socialising with mates, I also play the drums but self taught and not in a band, into my jet skis as well and will buy a Kawasaki ultra 300x or seadoo rxp when I go to Australia next year.
I’m into my old school fords owning numerous RS marques over the years.
I like to travel and learn about new cultures and languages.

Harry have you seen that model railway that I think 2 brothers done, they basically have it in a massive warehouse and the attention to detail is amazing even having model cars and famous land marks etc also it changes from night to day every 20 mins or something and everything is lit up… Seriously cool.

Mountain Biking, Photography, adventure events like Tough Guy, Toughmudder etc. lightweight camping and hill walking. I will try anything.

me and a mate are fancying the tough mudder next year,

know i’m not a driver, but i’m am away from home all week, and my hobby, like harry monk, is railway’s, but i go to this one, http://www.cleethorpescoastlightrailway.co.uk/, you really can’t beat real live steam, but as i hope harry would agree, it doesn’t matter what scale it’s in from oo gauge to the 15" gauge above to the real thing, it still smell’s the same…

for anyone even slightly interested in model railways, planes, boats etc if you get a chance google "miniaturwunderland"i think.

I have a raptor 30 as well that hasnt seen the air in at least 18 months!

I tend to ride around the Stockport area, mate of mine lives that way and knows some great trails (uphill and downhill!), but also try and get into the peaks as often as possible as well.

Ill try and get a couple of shots of my aircraft up tonight at somepoint (images are on my portable HD)

The aircraft are a lot of fun! Iv been flying on and off for around 14 years now and for the aircraft are the most fun! Especially the big petrol aircraft!

Id really like to give motorbikes a go, but would prefer a crosser to a road bike, i think id be much more likely to die on a road bike! LOL

I started with a Seadoo XP (800CC) and it was the most unreliable ski i ever owned! bought a yamaha FX140 after that and it was a great ski but i got a little bored of it, so settled on a 2004 seadoo RXP loved it to bits, had a couple of the riva upgrades on there too, went like ■■■■ of a shovel! I sold the RXP which i deeply regret now and then a few months later really missed the sport and bought my self a kawasaki 750 SX (stand up) and that was good fun too… out of all the sports i have done jet ski’ing is by far the best and the one i miss the most, think i will get my self another RXP in a couple of years when finances permit!

Always fancied having a blast on a snow mobile as well. They look like a lot of fun, meant to be very similar to jet ski’ng
