Should he not have been arrested at the scene in the same way the HGV driver was, how can you justify arresting one driver and not the other. As per usual it seems that the authorities are to quick to blame a lorry driver over any other driver, the excuse of needing to arrest the driver so as to carry out enquiries should surely apply to all drivers at the scene and not just the HGV driver

he was injured in the crash and possibly in no fit state to be arrested at the scene

That’s very true. Every time I hear of a colision between a bicycle and a truck, it always ends “The driver was arrested on suspicion” bla bla bla.

fair comment but I doubt he has been in hospital all this time or been unable to be arrested, plenty of people are placed under arrest in hospital
I would like to say I’m shocked, but I can’t. Agree with all the above comments.
And I was to,d by someone local to the accident that no ine in minibus was wearing a seatbelt and some were standing up and walking from seat to seat!

The only problem I have with the whole incident. & I do remember it from when it happened, is that the original arrest was almost certainly 100% illegal.
I’m 200% certain that the second arrest is also illegal.
Does the TNUK CSI know what circumstances must be in place before an arrest can be deemed legal?

The minibus driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

That happens most of the time on minibuses/coaches even more so on hen stag do’s. I bet they had only come on at the A1/M62 link junction with them setting off from South Elmsall meaning the driver would have been in the lane to come off for Pontefract/Castleford when he joined the M62 and probably realised he had to go into the right hand lanes to carry on the M62 and probably did so at the last minuite and also slowed right down judgeing by the damage on the back end of the bus. Damage like that is not caused by only doing 10-15mph slower than the flow of traffic.

Don’t forget, CSI trucknet have already decided the cause was the trailer which became detached from the minibus!
I hope the law cleared this announcement with Dieseldoforme, after he invited them to release any relevant info.
