You couldn’t make this up…

A man in the Dutch city of Amsterdam has been injured after a pop-up public toilet sunk into the ground emerged unexpectedly.

The man was hit by a moped which was thrown up in the air as the so-called UriLift toilet suddenly rose up.

He is being treated in hospital for minor injuries.

The toilets are a feature of central areas of Amsterdam, emerging at night to deter people from urinating in the streets.

Maybe, just maybe, before they ‘emerge’ they should check nothing is on top of them? Just a thought.

Not sure if it’s still there but there used to be one opposite Yates wine lodge in Durham city centre. Used it a couple of times but was always worried in case it sunk back into the ground whilst I was in mid flow! Didn’t fancy spending the next 20 hours treading “water” until it came back up again.

They’ve got them in Watford and Reading.

I’m surprised the slow speed they pop up at - could catapult someone off their seat - let alone chuck a moped through the air! :confused:

Who is liable? i.e. was it moped into toilet or toilet into moped?
