as far as i am aware, hire companies do not have operators licence as it is the responsibility of the hirer to add the vehicle to theirs so how does that work if i wanted to hire a truck to move house?

  1. what happens with regards to the O licencing?
  2. what happens with tachos ie are they used? still under normal driving hours?etc etc etc

As Denis said;
moving your own personal belongings on a hire vehicle is tacho and O-licence exempt. However, there are more and more hire companies that won’t hire unless you can show an O-licence and buy a box of charts off them, usually the wrong type!!
Pity they cannot be bothered to go and read the rules :smiley:
