Hill Brothers old FH12 380

hi all

apologies in advance if this is in the wrong place but this being my first post and first time on this forum i am still finding my way. getting onto the subject in hand my dad owns an L reg volvo FH12 380 which has hill brothers on it. so i was wondering if any one on this forum could shed some light as to the trucks history and what work it was mainly used on as we currently use it on an old King low loader for moving are steam engines around.

any help much appreciated

regards sam

Hi fowler 8669 & Trevor,

Kevin Williams who lent me these pics, used to drive for Hill Brothers, now drives for another haulier. I think Hill Brothers do a bit of general haulage as well as containers.
Cheers Dave.

i wondered if are old volvo did a lot of motorway work as it has a plain 4 over 4 box with no splits which seems odd to me as i havn’t come across another FH12 with no splits. was this transmission an option from Volvo? or was it standard for the first FH’s ?

cheers sam

4 over 4 was quite common, I had a 99 v reg 6x2 380 fm tractor unit which was ex suttons (tankers)
it went quite well after a re map
