Hijack / Robbery warning lads...NEWARK , Notts

last Thursday ( 31st October ) 3 blokes in a white Mercedes Atego with tail-lift attempted to break into my loaded container ( fitted with Bulldog clamp thank God ) , but where disturbed . :imp:

I was parked o/n in the TOTAL Garage just off the A1 @ Newark , near the Currys distribution centre .

Just thought you all might like to know

Thank El sumo

I’m sure someone might spot it doing the rounds at night

I thought it was closing to make way for another supermarket

a hungarian driver stopped in the lorry park a few weekends ago with a load of washing machines on for currys, claims to have heard nothing, but his curtain had been cut clean in half and 70 washing machines were nicked.

When he pulled into Electrolux at Milton Keynes it was funny seeing only half a curtain on the trailer

If any of you are coming to Newark with high value electrical goods please feel free to phone me4 and park near my house;).

We do have a large traveller site but I have never seen any white trucks down there mainly open back transits for tree lopping etc.

If you need to parkl somewhere the lorry park is NOT manned however parts of it are covered by CCTV what I would recommend you do is eother go back on to the A1 or A17 and face away from Currys thast way at least the theifs might think you have been tipped.

This is what happens when you park in Newark overnight… Half a trailer of Flat Screen TV’s gone…

[/b]The Hauliers need to either tell currys to permit parking
in their warehouse grounds or a secure lorry park should
be built to cater for the lorries, Yes it will have to be paid for
but good firms would take these costs in to account in their
costs for the transport of the said goods.
I have posted before that when the insurance companys
enforced there no cover with out secure parking, then we
would see a difference in the way firms operate,
Another point here would be the use of trailers with solid
sides, and roofs the amount of trailers that are now on the
market allows a hauler the choice ,and many firms over
here use special trailers to cater for more than one
type of work. ,

I used to work at Curry’s RDC Avonmouth.
Ok it was never that busy but on the weekends and odd days in the week.
Now I was doing the shunting at the time and saw the guys delivering pull in turn round and park outside, I’d ask the guys in security if they were for us and if they were i’d tell the driver to drop his trl on site in the courner out the way and i would get it on the bay for them to get it out the way lots of foreign drivers and a few scottish guys that were weekended they could sod off then for the weekend in town knowing the trailers were ok.
Now as i said we werent up and running to full capacity at the time but think this shows its about time propper parking needs to be put in place…

not that safe in the RDC at Newark only a month or 2 ago that they had a loaded trailer go missing straight out in front of everyone

Why do you park up in areas where you are likely to find theives?
Just ignore the rules when there is a risk.
Self preservation is more important than silly tacho rules, and i’m sure any judge would agree.

Unfortunately, that rules out parking anywhere in scrote ridden England these days, Phil

Thats not correct my friend

The Hauliers need to either tell currys to permit parking

There is no overnight parking within curry’s site but
what you could do is park between the A17 roundabout and the RDC1 and RDC2 roundabouts which are covered by camera’s.

If the cattle market lorry parks closing why has there been a truck wash recently installed?

Nowhere is safe and in current econamic climate its only going to get worse, warehouses and property is harder to get into to knick owt but a trailers a doddle to rob isnt it.

Write to the local paper the more of you who do it the better crime figures will rise as this will be unsolved crimes, there was a guy selling Wiis round town for £50 last week a week before that a lorry was broken in to and a load of Wiis stolen.
