…blah blah blah! occupational hazard! a so call professional driver being caught up in traffic. I missed my bus last week and had to wait an hour for another one but the little electric sign at the bus stop said it would be 45mins!!! I didnt go shouting about it like a mad man…
If he buys a map he won’t need to use the HA roads he hates so much! he can do it cross country…
Rather than throwing his toys out his pram and winging about it on a forum, maybe he should be telling the HA the problem so they can sort the foooking thing out!! or is he just looking for sympathy??
You will find sympathy in the dictionary between $hlt and syphilis pal
…Spoken like a true HA employee.
It brings them all out in force, not on the roads but sat reading forums in case somebody is rude about them
By tomorrow there will be half a dozen posts about how badly done to they are.
I am not in favour or defending the HA here. I think their strategic sign setting is rubbish and motorist should take them with a pinch of salt. I just think Rob K is a knob!! who spends to much time in a cab listening to BBC radio 2 Jeremy vine show and thinks he knows it all…
When at work, i am constantly asking the RCC to update the information on them. the best advise I could give is if you are heading in the direction the sign displaying, pull over somewhere and double check the route from another source! simples!!

Well i am off to watch the CARS movie. MACK didnt need a map where he was going. He wanted to sleep with the other trucks but his boss would not let him !!
I love MATER as well
Yep, I see what you have done there, that’s clever! Cars that’s about your level of intelligence.

Jimboy, looks like your name is “on the list” now as well !! Best be careful out there!!

Coming from York to Foston last night. Obvious route is A1 M18 M1 etc but gets on the A1 at Bramham and matrix is flashing M1 crash 40-39, which is fine as I wasn’t planning to go that way anyway. Gets down past J38 A638 and then signs for roadworks appear, lane 2 closed. No problem. Next thing “A1 south closed, follow diversion”. The HA muppets have got everyone coming off at J37 which is some ■■■■■■■ single lane back road which goes through a housing estate and eventually joins back up with the A638 just north of Donny. [zb] road is backed up for miles and down the A1 as well. The problem being that the lights at the end with the A638 only let 2 cars through before going back to red for another 10 mins.
WTF.
How thick are these [zb]■■? A638 is a [zb] dual carr all the way into Donny and out the other side to the M18 and the traffic has priority so the lights stay on green for a sensible amount of time.
So 2 problems :
No-one in Wetherby cares about a minor bump on a 3 lane motorway at Wakefield. What they do care about is a [zb] motorway closure at Doncaster so the matrix at Wetherby should have read A1 SOUTH CLOSED AT J37 so we could’ve all gone down the micky 1.
The matrix boards near to Doncaster should have read FOR A1 SOUTH EXIT AT J38 & FOLLOW DIVERSION.
THAT IS IT. [ZB] SIMPLE AND COULD HAVE SAVED PEOPLE A LOT OF TIME AND HASSLE.
It’s rare I agree with RobK but he does have a point. Bit of a made up job in my opinion.
Taking into account that Rob-K posts as if he is an a**e, and the fact that the sign is only relevant the second you pass it, it could change the second after you have past, I have given up with matrix signs. After a long drawn out incident in the roadworks section, I requested signs display ‘J14-12 LONG DELAYS’ approaching J14. Running South towards J14, I saw no signs but after J14, in stationary traffic, signs were displaying my requested message. After three phone calls attempting to rectify this, I gave up. In september, the National Traffic Control Centre based at Quinton, changed contracts to a new supplier. It is possible that instead of staff being TUPE over, that it is all new staff who have not got a clue??
Whilst I hate to agree with Rob-K, I cannot defend the HA when so many instances of poor signage is happening. Some strategic signing does make you wonder why it is being shown in the location it is!! Once M1 North J9-10, message displaying ’ A12 CLOSED AT A120’ or similar. I caanot think why any driver travelling north on the M1 to Luton would be heading towards the Chelmsford area.
paul@midway:
Having a map has f-all to do with HA setting up stupid diversion routes.
Like the one down on the 25 nr woking the other month, the plod were going mad with artics practically getting stuck against each other in a tiny village.
Just saying
Think that little village might be called Oxshott
I got caught up in this diversion on the way down to Brighton recently and didn’t get parked up until 0200. What a friggin nightmare it was with trucks from all corners of the EU trying to squeeze past each other, whoever planned that diversion route needs their head examining

Coming home from london and i planned to take the M25 M11 A14 A1. From the M25 i was told A1 north by A47 closed. I then thought to myself Hang on i am 2 hours away, why the ■■■■ do i need to know about the A1 when i am on the M25!!!
I agree with Robk, they need to put signs up that matter
A1 North (Leeming - Scotch) & South (Scotch - Leeming) is supposed to be closed EVERYNIGHT from 10th-29th Oct, this is verified by the temp trailer syle matrix igns they have dumped at the side of the road up the A1 between these 2 places YET most nights both directions are OPEN give or take so far 1 or 2 nights. Wouldnt it be better planning the jobs needing done? The length to do these jobs? And then closing the road accordingly at proper set dates and not just when they feel like? Most of our runs are to the East of the country so down this road most night and up it most nights. Plenty other routes to use BUT each add an extra 30-40mins…USELESS ■■■■■■
Sometimes the info is either wrong or out of date, but I’d suggest that the best thing the HA could do is stop running patronising meaningless crap on the gantry signs; the “wear your seat belt” and “don’t drink and drive” ones, the latter in the middle of the afternoon seems particularly pointless.
If drivers keep seeing that kind of stuff they end up switching off and ignoring the signs. For all their intended usefulness I strongly suspect they’ll never justify their massive installation costs.

I suppose you have greater intelligence naming yourself after a fictional cartoon car then hey ?
I suspect you have matching pyjamas and duvet set as well and have the film on a constant loop

But wait… If you were going from London to, say, Leeds and were planning to go up the A1, I think you would find that advance warning pretty useful when you’re still on the M25. I certainly would. That is one of the rare instances where the matrix’ are doing what they’re designed to do.

Good point there but it was pointless to me. I know i will be using the A1 but i will be turning off at Alwalton
