We have just been told will going in there to do pick ups.
Any advice on do’s and dont’s ?
Is turning across A9 from village best way out ? (to Glasgow) Got to admit not liking the idea of getting 44t across A9 before a speeding car try’s to play tig with me !
Cheers

You have to turn right out of the factory over the railway and not go through the village of Blackford. It looks like others do a U turn on the A9 or carry on up until the A823 and turn round then

straight across pal and turn right! beware plod past the speed cameras and make sure you strap the back two up tight! DONT overload they’re keen as ■■■■ up there the plod!
As you come out of highland spring there is a sign that says to carry on north on the A9 and u turn at the a823 junction. The sign is a picture of a lorry and says ‘‘all routes’’. This adds about 3 minutes to your journey.
This is the safer option!
If you can put some internals halfway down the load aswell.
Great place to load, used to load our rail boxes up there, twice a day and only ever put 2 straps round each back pallet, same in our curtainsiders, never had it moved.
Suppose it’s the same as anything else, drive like a knob and it’ll move.
Used to park in the yard overnight, can you still do that?,the queues first thing in the morning used to be quite bad.
Also don’t forget to get your free packs of water out of the warehouse!!
Now I know why I stopped posting on this forum,I merely offered up some advice.
I don’t drive like a knob and I would still always put some internals on the 5th row down, esspecially on the small bottles.
Airfreight it wasn’t meant to offend you in anyway or form,it wasn’t even aimed at you and it never even crossed my mind, sorry if it did.
I don’t post much on here either as I’m fed up of hearing about Stobart this and Stobart that.
Hey Jase
No worries pal,Stobarts don’t get me started!

As others say turn right as you leave the site and leave the dual carriageway at the filling station for the fly over. There is word that Highland Spring are going to start using the railway to move their freight.A local pressure group are making noises about getting the old station brought back into use.
Cheers all

heard stobarts are offering to move it down to daventry on rail for nothing as long as they can deliver it from there of course, coulthards will be ■■■■■■ if that happens.

Why stop there? We have to strap every pallet as it is now company policy which a real pain when you have a back door tip!
Ah well at least when VOSA start checking curtainsiders we will have one thing less to worry about.

It makes perfect sense to me in a way - Scotland is a dreadful place to get backloads from I was once told there is five trucks delivering for every one coming out ! if you have 30 train wagons which have taken stuff for Tesco north you might as well try to fill them with something rather than send then south with fresh air !!
They (Stobarts) are no different to anyone else they have a major customer who puts them in one part of the country and they have to find a load back In a way it’s actually worse for them as they must have 100’s daily going north maybe more ! Its natural you have three choices
1.) wait for a decent paying rate south (your in for a long wait)
2.) try to fill you wagons - they must have 100 plus daily that they need to fill
3.) try to do something different - don’t go to areas with no return loads and say to mr tesco sorry we don’t do Scotland Mid wales etc !

yet another way for the governmant to ■■■■ us over. they subsidise trains and give them money to build new rail freight sidings. the governemnt is massively pro-train

The Scots are still sour with Edward for daring to go over the border and take their work, the same story was mentioned in the 80’s that Stobart carries backloads for nowt, if he gets the warehousing and distribution. That is the bit that confuses, they are getting paid, and not carrying it for zilch. Everyone knows that warehousing is more lucrative than road haulage. My take on it is, let the Scots take the few backloads and let us send all their MP’s back North
I get my water out of a tap and save on the fuel costs anyway

Maybe if people stopped offering to take loads out of Scotland for free, on the premise they get to deliver it once it reaches an English railhead, things would start to improve!
