High viz jackets

i got mine from jjb , well the wife did, and it is the warmest jacket i have had ever, even after about 15 washes (the wife hates dirt on my jackets) its still warm enough to do toast in your pocket.

i think it cost her £20

NewBlood:
Is there any set rule about what colour the jacket should be on sites (yellow or orange)? I feel the orange is brighter so if there is no set rule, I might go for them.

As is said else where, orange for railways yellow for most other places, but some firms are wanting yellow with some red stripes over sholders for work on trunk roads/moterways, dont know if its just company policy or a new rule?

NB

No set rule as long as you wear them in the truckstop at night and spread all the days dirt and grease all over the seats and that :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

Anybody know where gore-tex yellow high/viz waistcoat can be obtained?

I find the ordinary ones make me sweat a lot in summer. Hate having to wear it.

where can you get really thick [ warm] good quality high viz jackets  ive got coats , fleeces etc but none seem to keep me nice and warm .ive tried a few but none seem much thicker than what ive got , any ideas ta

I got one about 6 years or so ago. “Harbour Lights” bomber jacket type. Not sure if they still do them. Quilted lining. Flimsy hood which folds into the collar, and has been through the washing machine numerous times.

If I found another, I’d buy it.

conversation at work about the orange/yellow colours the other day, apparently a new colour type garment is to be designed for use on building sites as the yellow ones are becoming too common and too easy to obtain! basically noone asks any questions if you are on site as long as you are wearing a hi-vis.

Orange is predominantly used on railways, every building site i`ve worked on specifies yellow hi-vis, most yards are yellow too.

The new bomber-jacket style ones DHL are supplying us with are really warm. They are also keep the water out really well. In fact I’m surprised that the firm has got us anything that is such good quality.

I have no idea where they are from, but I’ll check the label when I go in on Monday.

They have to be orange because H&S reckon yellow ones don’t show up well enough if you stand next to one of our yellow trailers.

I got a bomber jacket style one from Makro for £19 about 3 years ago, made by Portwest. Is very warm with a shirt and a fleece/hoodie under it, wore it to go over my bike jacket originally but wear it for work now mostly. I’ve always thought of orange Hi-vis as being a way to work out who is a manager, but seems to be a lot of drivers wear them anyway.
