High value loads?

http://www.highvalueloads4hijacking.com/northeast.php

Cheers for replys and for ward bros Alan , that is our class 1 rate but I’m usually in a rigid doing the palletways side of the company , work our ■■■■ off for basic wage! This is the only company I have worked for outside the army been here just under 2 years so I’m not the most experienced, but I think 6.60 is a bit low especially when you see van drivers getting paid more and doing less work lol … I.e not tail-lifting a ton dumpy bag up some posh persons driveway and still having another 4 to go :frowning: haha

Well you have answered your own question ’ go and get a van driving job’.

Pulleyns in Reading do high value loads, for the pharmeuceutical industry all over Europe and beyond that.

While £6.60 per hour sounds very poor, there are hauliers on Teesside that pay less. For class 1 work.

here comes trouble:
While £6.60 per hour sounds very poor, there are hauliers on Teesside that pay less. For class 1 work.

Less than £6.60 for class 1 (or 2 for that matter) work? Now that is a frightening thought.

Personally, I would rather clean windows than work for someone who valued me at that rate, and that’s more to do with self-pride than the money.

A neighbour of mine was Class 1 driving for £7.25 an hour and putting in all the hours and POA that God sent. One morning, about three months ago, I was chatting with him as he was tipping his first load of the day and was three hours into his shift. He was then off to pick up a load from Peterlee to Manchester. I asked him what time he would get finished and he smiled and said, “Do you want the official answer?”

The following morning he collapsed at my (then) place of work. Major stroke, ambulance, hospital, life-support, etc.

As I said, that was three months ago. The good news is that, although I believe he is still in hospital, he is walking again and his speech is getting better. He is 43 years old.

All for £7.25 an hour, working all the hours he needed to at that rate to support his family.

Makes you think, eh?

Depending on work and any other bonus’.

For general work, I won’t go below £8 and time and half after 8 hrs, usually £9 / hr + time and half after 8 or 10 hrs.

For container type work, I’ll go a little lower, and usually a straight through rate, but you’re also not docked your dinners, the work is easier and you get the hours in without being knackered.

Don’t ward’s also do metal? Sure we used to load out of Ward Bro’s scrap metal into boxes??

Give a small tip… any posts indentifying where when and who is carrying a high value load will as soon as spotted disappear from here… we have enough problems without giving anyone a heads up. anyone stupid enough to post such details will find their ability to post without being checked curtailed. some companies are well known for carrying high value loads… but there is no reason too advertise it on here to make it even easier for the more neferious elements of society… I have said it before and say it again… think before you post- you never know who is reading.

A driver was stabbed today in his cab- if that had happened becuase you made a daft post on here then just how would you feel about now?

We carry some very expensive concrete pipe segments and I suppose a gang of strong men could lift one onto a dropside transit.

Pity about the twenty odd still left on the trailer and the three hundred other trailer loads you’ll need to make the pipe…

I see where you are coming from but I didn’t mean it in that way , but yeah I’ll think before I post next time  … And I think that is a company from Darlington Wayne the company I’m at is originally from Malton but the main depot is Middlesbrough now. Like I said this is the only company I have worked for outside the army so 6.60 is all I’ve been used to but I’ve got my class 1 and ADR (packages) so I’m sure I could be worth more than that to someone else ? Lol

Smoggie, that rate you’re on is a ■■■■ take.
It may well be what you’re used to, but that doesn’t make it right.

Spend a couple of days going round different companies asking for work, don’t bother sending emails or CV’s, they’re a waste of time.

Go and see people, despite popular belief, there are jobs around, you’ve just got to go and find them. You won’t find them in the job centre.

There’s 5 operators over Darlington way I can think of who’ve recently been looking for drivers, paying £8.00 (trunking, no nights out), £10 (supermarket fridge work, no nights out), £11 (heavy/abnormal), £9.20 and £8.50 (general).

Its hard to know who to take notice of. You think a low wage is a ■■■■ take, previous threads on here will reveal that drivers on a high wage i.e Petrol Tanker drivers, Tesco drivers etc… are all lazy ■■■■■■■■ who wanna choose what hours they work and ‘get in the real world’, conundrums eh ?

Are they? Or do they want to get paid a decent wage for a fair day’s/night’s work? What is it with some drivers that think you aren’t a proper trucker unless you work max hours for minimum wage and end up ■■■■■■ by the end of the week. That’s not being a ‘proper trucker’, that’s called being exploited and not having the balls to do anything about it. :unamused:

No one driving wagons should be paid so little…and if you’re prepared to do so, it means that companies will expect ALL drivers to… :unamused: :unamused:

Perspective - I know of an office junior working for £7.50/hour at 17 years old…So come on - show some balls and tell 'em to ■■■■■■■■ at such ■■■■ poor wages…

(Cue all the ■■■■■■■■ about a familiy to feed… -so have I but I don’t work for ■■■■■ money like that…!!)

Everyone thinks their worth more, hear it all the time dont you, “we havnt had a pay rise in years” etc.

In my opinion lorrying driving isn’t a job its life style choice, similar to being a holiday rep, you dont do it for the money just the experience.

Come on own up, who else tried the link?

I got my job by going round the doors but never have time now 55+ hours a week at least pfffttt

I worked for a well know company in Billingham doing class 2 ADR - £6.70 an hour! We used to work 55+ hours a week and only get paid for 50.
If you fancy a change I know they are advertising on the job centre today but out of the frying pan into the fire and all that. I did some agency driving for Wards and they treat you guys alot better than my last place used to treat me.
If your unsure of the company they have blue and white trucks and they are called N…s!

I think you’re looking at things the wrong way if you think you need to pull high value loads to get a better wage.

As others have said you need to look round for another job.

I used to pull some high value loads, but they were chemicals for industrial processes, they had to had certificates of conformity with them. To your average criminal they were absolutely worthless. The same goes with the racing cars I’ve carried, cost loads of money but useless outside the series they were intended to be used.

But a load of hand tools or something similar, that’s what you average low life wants to sell at the local car boot sale.
