High sided vehicles

when is a vehicle classed as high sided.i do fridge work trailers are around 13,9 and when the forth road brisge is closed my gaffer says its ok to cross as its not high sided.

Simple, would you jump off the roof of the trailer? If you wouldnt it is high sided.

A fridge trailer is less at risk of blowing over due to the extra weight (more so if loaded) and solid sides. Common sense has to prevail and if you dont feel safe then dont do it.

Generally accepted to be when the height is greater than the width.

No :imp:

I’m just 6’ 2" wide

16 foot +, is what I’d consider high sided.

I was prevented from going over the Runcorn bridge one windy day in a loaded 6x4 tipper. I said to the copper that if I got blown over the cars would be flying like kids toys but he wouldn’t have it. I was only tipping in Widnes ffs! :imp:
