"HIGH" Rates Of Pay For C+E

The “Low Pay” topic is turning into a epic, so then, whats “High Pay” ?

I know a fella working out of Avonmouth on fuel tankers on £19 an hour, other tanker drivers who visit my place are on £17.

I get paid £13 an hour then £19 after 48 hours, and can earn over £900 a week for just over 60 hours work.

We have shunters who who work a full week and Saturday morning who are on £1100 a week

Hauliers come into our place who earn £7 an hour and lower, its a disgrace.FFS its the same job, whats going on ?

This is not a big willy contest, but a genuine Q to what rates of pay there are in this country.

By the way forklift drivers here are on a old contract and are on £17 an hour. They work for 26 weeks a year !!!

I know someone who got a call @ 04.00 this morning, offering £350 + £15PH to get into Tosco Lichfield PDQ, he was in like a shot

It ■■■■■■ off the lads who were on £100 + £15PH, but, they had the luxury of knowing their start times the day before

There are plenty of “high” rate jobs around here, you just need to know the right people, have a can do attitude, and a closed mouth

Spoke to several Tossco drivers all on the agency. They have said Tossco fine their agency £300 if a driver can’t be allocated for any delivery, so the pressure is on.

The agency fellas recieve £100+ before their shift begins.

A driver from Chepstow Tossco stated they just refuse the start times and initial rates of pay and get offered ridiculous bonuses to do the job.The record so far is £10 an hour plus £200 just to turn up !!

So that’s that blown out of the water by Monday, then!! :unamused:

Have you seen their wage slips?? Its not that I don’t believe you I just take everything with a pinch of salt, especially when wages are involved. I think there is jobs out there that pay that much but you will never find them advertised in the paper or job centre website.

The good jobs don’t ever get advertised, why would a company that can pick from those recommended by their already trusted staff put themselves in the position of having to interview and turn away all the usual suspects likely to then claim some 'ist or 'ism cos they didn’t get the job?

Getting into the best jobs has always been bloody hard work, once you’re in the loop it seems to stay like that.

Took me 14 years of general haulage long hours and real graft before i found my first niche job by recommendation, i started on that firm driving a van which paid £100 a week more than i earned driving a 38 tonner around 1986.

Anybody know of any of these high (or should it be adequate after all?!) paying jobs in Wilts/Som!

The word ‘allegedly’ always springs to mind…

There are currently half a dozen NI Grafton Agency drivers meeting@ Sprucefield M1/A1 junction outside Belfast each morning and sharing the car driving down to Stobarts@ Donnybrook RDC North Dublin to cover 12hour shifts on the Tesco contract.
Rumour is Stobart can’t get Southern Drivers to work for him.
Its £14/hour and £65/day travelling bonus :exclamation: :exclamation: :sunglasses:
A three day week gets them £700gross :exclamation: :exclamation: :open_mouth:

Two in the boot? or is it a MPV? :open_mouth:

An add a couple of weeks ago in the job centre was offering £16 per hour for Petrol tanker drivers in Immingham, cant remember who for, but NOT agency.

I was on £10 but £40 per week travelling expenses and worked anything up to 60 hours per week, that was on Cat C which I didn’t think was too bad to be honest, especially through agency. I can only dream of making £700-900 in this industry lol.
