HIAB weather

It’s cold wet and raining out there :frowning: The weather threatens lightning for tomorrow.

What do the learned panel (YOU!!!) say about operating in lightning storms.

When I’ve driven cherrypickers in the past you couldn’t operate when lightning was happening. Is this the same with HIAB?

Still. Cold & Wet, and still tired from yesterday :frowning: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :unamused:

I think applying common sense to situation & conditions is key here, the likely hood of being struck by lighting is slim , I bet some days you lift near uninsulated electricity cables, these can arc 6-10foot but has it happened yet ? If its raining you just get wet & it has to really windy & gusty to cause to much of an issue , depends what your lifting , but common sense is the key …

don’t wear the tin hat… that is all.

Smear yourself with barbecue sauce, at least the emergency services will get a good feed

wear wellies.
and a fish costume.

health and safety fill out risk assement and stay in the cab.

Carry on as normal, well I will be .

One of the two for us!! We don’t have rubber gloves :open_mouth:

Carry on, mines a remote hi-ab, so only handle the load when its in reach which makes the boom lower. And, the legs on mine are metal all the way (except for another one at ours that has a plastic ‘foot’ on the end of the leg), so if it did ever happen the bolt (I think/hope) would take the shortest/easiest route, you would only get hurt if you touched the unit / load.

Hope this helps (if at all)

Guess not…

You need to put a condom over the top of your hard hat, I was told this by a Health and safety Executive, sounds daft but it does work…

I thought you didn’t like trucking and had jacked it all in.
