You would need a heavy duty inverter, and wire the inverter direct from the battery

Yes, you just need to buy a 3kw mains inverter and wire it up through that. You will need to wire it up properly though, using suitable hard-wired cable.

Why would he need a 3k if it’s only a 700w?

A 2 and a bit would be enough headroom.

Mines a 2100w and powers my 700w microwave no problem

Buy a samsung roadmate.

Because 700w is the “cooking power”, the input power needs to be double that, and then you need to double it again to allow for the start-up current draw.

Assuming you have one, how do you find it compares with a domestic microwave oven?

hi saaamon this would be easier but only new to this and they are 500+ fitted expensive to start

I thought you’d say that, i need a new one as mines broke but its an awful lot of money. What truck have you got?

Why buy a Samsung Roadmate for £500 when you can buy an inverter for £200 and a mains-powered microwave oven for £50?

105xf super space

Samsung roadmate also pack up a lot, they get very hot and just stop working, all our 700+ trucks are fitted with them and if you overheat it it will cost you loads keep having it repaired.

Hi so a 1500w inverter with a peak 3000w would run a 700w microwave with it wired into the main power cables?

My experience for what it’s worth is this.
I installed a 24 v Samsung in a super space DAF. It cost tooo much, but it was ok.
At the time the super space were pre wired up to the main locker for a microwave.
Anyway,it lasted about 5 years I think.
When it packed up I couldn’t bear the thought of shelling out for another Samsung, so I bought one of the cheap allride 24 v efforts.
It was ok,but it didn’t have a turntable so it was a bit on the slow side.
It started playing up after a year maybe, the start button was hit and miss, so that’s in the shed still working, I just thought it better to go for it with a 240 volt through an inverter.
I bought a ring inverter from C F Parkinson’s.
I looked on eBay and the price I paid was not far out in comparison.
Anyway it’s a 2200 watt model and it was perfect.
As the microwave is a full domestic type I can turn it down to a lower setting as not to burn/cook stuff too fast, I can’t remember if the Samsung did that, I think not.
The inverter went bang a few weeks ago, so it was back to omelette for tea ect.
It was just over a year old and out of warranty, anyway I took it back to Parkinson’s, they sent it back to ring at Leeds and after two weeks credited a new one.
I can’t see that happening if I had bought it online.
And I’ve got a TOASTER.

plenty of good quality inverters out there at decent price plus i noticed in asda beside me they have micro waves from £32 you could buy 2 and keep 1 as a spare lol

gona put one in new truck and ■■■■■■■ anderson lead to it so can connect straight up to battery when needed

Buy a ring 2100 watt inverter peak 4000 and my 750watt microwave pulls around 950watt out

iv had a samsung for around ten years with no probs thay were only around £300 back then .a lot of the guys i work with have gone down the inverter route all seem to go thru an inverter a year also dont go and buy the cable from an electrical factor as thay will charge around £4 per meter and you will need 8 in total(4red 4 black) euro car parts do 4m heavy duty jump leads for around 17 squid

Used a 1500 watt inverter and a 700 watt domestic microwave for years, as does about half a dozen of our trucks and no problem whatsoever.

We have these hard wired in our fleet of around 100 and have no problems.
