There is always some ā€œnegativeā€ feedback on these forums I am suprised no one has mentioned the F word yet !! Jeezo go for it and good luck ok .

all I see are constructive and honestly held views, personally I hate giving negative views but will refuse to give anything other than an honestly held viewpoint, mate when someone asks for advise it seems reasonable to assume that they want to be told the truth rather than being told just what we think they would like to hear.

Hi jeezo
im 41 on monday, passed my cat c a month ago, cant find any real work at the moment but looking forward to when the work does pick up.
Good on ya mate and good luck in chasing your dream.

what concerns me is why wait this long to be a truck driverā– ā– ?.it seems to me some, not all folk, see transport as an easy option an d have the attitude ,anyone can drive a truck,it takes many years to get experience.some people use transport as a fall back on job, this annoys me as it undermines the industry, some of us are what you could call career drivers who have it in the blood or just wanted to drive trucks.look what happened when thatcher was in power and there was all the big redundencies, what did people do?? got their hgvs and transport went down hill because so many new drivers just took any driving job, even though it didnt pay,a similar thing is happening now,to many drivers so bosses can cut wages…i understand we all need to work but will the wages bounce back when times get better,i think not…the point you have passed an hgv test doesnt make you a seasoned driver and some bosses know this and take the pee,so if you go ahead with you hgv training good luck but beware its not good out ther and you may waste your money…

I think this is unfair - what do you say to squaddies or RAF or Navy lads who want a second career after finishing their time ā– ā–

41 is way too young to be starting !

The Tories started this ā€˜market forces’ thing - it’s supply and demand - if there are too many drivers - so what - just wait until we are in DEPRESSION - there’ll be rioting in the streets - if you voice an opinion like that.

People have freedom to choose - especially if they’ve just popped in from the southern africa area or eastern europe OR THE NORTH OF THE UK for that matter.

It makes me sad to hear drivers with the sad excuse that ā€˜why wait this long’ or ā€˜have it in the blood’.

I come from a ā€˜trawler/deep seas fishing background’ and i’d have loved to follow in my fathers footsteps but the common fisheries policies pursued by successive Tory governments has killed the fishing … so we have too look elsewhere.

be more welcoming - if we all had C or Cand E - the roads would be safer

apologies - rant over

As I am from and resident in the North of the U.K. felt a need to reply.
I took C test after a career in baking, was laid of .I have been a key holder for commercial premises since I was 19 years old so in the habit of responsible posts.Apart from squaddies what about d.js. and people who have worked in sport who are feeling a bit old in middle age,but have to do something THEY may see ads. from Pathway or STERLING before they find our good selves to put them straight.I hope things pick up soon so we can put a more positive slant on our posts to the newbies.

mate, go for it.

im 21, but if have learnt one thing in life.

thats go for what you want, dont settle for second best, and if theres something you want to try, well try it.
