Hi thnx for the welcome  i live nr ashford just spoke with a guy he got some 7.5t work to get back in the driving seat then reckons some c2 work after that so things not so bad after all but its still a long old way to class1 from here i wonder if i do a day refresher or assesment will it make a difference or just make me skint again :frowning: its one very strange industry that shoots it self in the foot or is it the dam insurance companies bending people over a barrel :open_mouth: lol

Well thats a good start and when one day he has a class 1 driver off and a load to go out you may be there with your licence :bulb:

Hi well iam at home staring at my pc despite signing with no less than 5 agencies last week quite depressed now :frowning: I think i will ring the big transport companies like ND and EddieStobart ect see what the say about newbies wanting class 1 work.I am sure they realise taking on and training young people is the future of the business so it makes sense to enquire.

Unless you tell them, how do the agencies know how much driving you have done in the last 2 years?

i have told them i havent driven in the past two years but if dvla say i am good enough to drive c, and c+e then should be good enough for companies and insurance companies i feel they are the biggest problem in preventing good young drivers getting on with their chosen profession causing unessisary shortages in the industry if we had similar schemes to europe then we would be better off i am not saying put someone in an artic the day after the test to drive aroumd london but some trunking very earlies or night to just get on and drive and learn the vehicle to start would be great thats the sort of thing iam looking for right now to gain experience :grimacing:

HI ya
please dont get to downhearted its just the way it is be patient and it will happen ,we have all had the feeling oh god its crap out there!
thing is could be that job is just round the corner and then you will be smiling from ear to ear , stick in there

hi i just applied for eddie stobbart despite all the negs on here about them told them i would relocate so see if that gets a response fingers crossed  also adr network said yes they take new class1 at various locations so waiting to here back from them and will visit some companies in person tomorrow.I just wonder does any one know if its easier any where else in the uk or europe to get artic driving

To be honest I think its tough for everyone out there not just newbies, but there seems to be signs of work picking up so maybe getting better you just gotta be in the right place at the right time  jx

my eyesight is very good DD :exclamation:
