I can’t read the link but does that mean that all limiters will have to be reset? Or will nobody be able to take advantage of the new limit?

Limiters are set at 56mph/90kph now, the Scottish ā€œnewā€ limits are merely bringing the country in line with England, Wales and northern Ireland. No changes to limiters is required

It would have been better if they had just went back to the old days when there was 'ā€˜an unwritten law’'or an ā€˜unofficial agreement’'between the Old Bill and truckers that you would not get nicked if you went above the law to a certain level…say up to 10mph above…at 50mph.

Just bear with me and hear me out on this.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It is 40mph now on the likes of the A75 where it is relatively safe to ā€˜break the limit’, …I’ve seen me do about 50 on there in the past, 10mph above the present.
So now at 50 you are going to realistically and likely see the teararse gang sitting on the limiter, ie 16mph above the old limit.

So instead of a variation of between 40 to those who abide by the law and 50 who don’t,.everybody is ganna do 56.

Is that logic to some?.. or am I talking through my arse?..again :joy:

So no change then, and no running at 60mph.

They still have the ability to set the a75 to 40mph if it becomes a problem

Be while back but used go up Aberdeen and Inverness
And there were sections of the main roads that were trailing new higher speed limits for hgvs.
Read other day that the Scottish government have dropped plans to lower speed limits in Scotland

^^^^ The A9 was being trialled with a 50mph limit for

HGV’s travelling on the single carriageway sections between Perth and Inverness.

Obviously there’s a huge amount of holiday traffic using that road and it’s my opinion that someone in power realised that whilst speed is a contributing factor in many accidents they were smart enough to realise that frustration leading to reckless overtakes probably causes far more accidents

They were thinking about lowering speed limits for cars
