HGV Road User Levy

I can’t understand how this could possibly be illegal, seeing as Germany operates a road user charging system for HGV’S.

I can guarantee that you will not see this on the BBC news site before the referendum.

They’re not saying the charge itself is illegal, just that it gives British hauliers a fair / unfair advantage by reducing the ved by the same amount. Agree though that it won’t be on the beeb!

So just charge them the full daily equivalent of our annual road user tariff. At least until/unless we leave the EU then impose a permit system which also guarantees UK hauliers with at least 50% of all uk-international traffic and then arrange a reciprocal road toll rebate/immunity on the basis of you don’t hit us we don’t hit you or you hit us we hit you harder.

On that note the current scheme not surprisingly seems to have been deliberately designed to be unworkable strictly complying within EU law.Or the EU is deliberately misinterpreting the system by confusing the rebate given back to uk hauliers as a net reduction in Road user Taxation.IE the EU is saying hit uk operators with ‘both’ the domestic VED ‘and’ the Toll that’s just meant for foreign vehicles. :bulb:

If they didn’t reduce VED by the same amount then domestic operators would obviously get hit twice. :unamused:

You will not hear this on BBC aswell, In France workers are protesting about new employment laws and the police are tear gassing them. The workers that are building a new Atomic power plant are getting wages ,rents stopped by company but are not passing it on to GOV they are also on half wages of I think it is French or dutch workers.Or any thing to do with asylum seekers being naughty in Germany and France
