hgv licence

i am driving 7500kg lorries ok but want to go for my full hgv licence but have one eye can i do it hellp :exclamation:

you should be able to as there are a few one eyes on here!!!

sorry, just couldnt resist.

to be honest i have no idea, does it affect your vision? im guessing it may do but the only real people that could answer that would be your doctor or the doctors at DVLA.

another guess would be that if you are ok to drive your car (and a 7.5t) then why not? i cant see the difference really except its a bigger wagon and if you can see ok to drive your car then it should be ok for hgv’s!

To book any LGV training I suggest the trainee-to-be, visits the training school, meets the head person(s) and has a quick look at the truck BEFORE parting with any money.

Using the site Search facility and putting the words TRAINING AND WHERE you wish to train may turn up some recommendations.

Current Newbie job & economic situation - My own view

Its a strange one.One of my friends has one eye been driving 7.5 tonners for years but hes been told he cant have larger HGVs as his periferal vision is compromised.Yet another lad with the same injury had the job centre offer to put him on a course to get his car license then onto his HGV.I told him to query as I thought EU had put restrictions in place. He came back saying they were sure he coud get his HGV.Another lad who lost his eye when serving in the forces kept his HGV but he said he was okay to drive in the UK but not in europe.

I can’t imagine that you would be able to pass the eyesight test. When I have done mine you have to cover each eye in turn and read off the chart to a certain level. If you only have one eye this would be impossible of course - sadly.
