HGV jobs that don't require strapping

Your all wrong, me ickle class 2 delivering flt’s
The RDC need the flt’s you jump the que and unload yourself and bugger off, and I wont embarrass “some” of the superior class 1 guys with the vulgarities of the money

You don’t get the forkie to unload a full load of say something of the weight of bog rolls or boxes of crisps do you?

No, but I would if that’s what was stacked two pallets high. I know the law Is stupid and that such a load is never going to get shed, but I can still get done for it.

Why would bog roll be double stacked?

Bog roll is nearly always double stacked because it’s so light its sent out in 52 pallet loads

Funny bog roll has come up, I have to pick up a load of flt “smart” paper clamps next week, apparently they are smart because they do not crush the rolls, so my question was, who wants a hug from one? Funny not one of the salesmen volunteered

Nooo not if the flt driver still has his seat belt on

I was just whittering on about loading/unloading and not having to wait

I stand corrected, in my simple mind I assumed the pallets on the “Andrex” “juan sheet” trailers were just really tall  silly me

Load has still got to be secured on fridge work, may not move sideways but it’ll still go forwards or backwards.

+1 nice to see someone else use the wording SECURED

Why not just plod along doing the job right and then have a good laugh when one of the heroes puts it all over the road ?

Tris:
I do make the fork truck driver unload what needs unloading, but the whole process ends up taking about an hour and I’m sick of it. The fork truck drivers attitude is I’m the only one that moans and I’m just a pain in the arse.

Sounds to me like you’re doing the job right, it won’t be the fork truck drivers who pay the fine for an insecure load.

Tris:
Currently I’m always going to be the slow driver because i will never be able to match the heros that just close the curtains and drive off.

What does it matter if you’re the slow driver, the idea is to get the load to B in the same condition as when it left A, it takes as long as it takes.

The fridge work load securing is being over milked here to make it sound harder work than all of 30 seconds it is. Load goes on. You put load bar across and maybe a strap, that’s all you can do as there’s no other free tie down points. Real struggle (wow) comes when you require enough straps/ bars for Danish trolleys if collecting.

Because it weighs naff all and you want the trailer to bulk out into volume space rather than mass out as 26 pallets of single layer dog food would, in order to maximise load capacity for the trip cost.

Yeah fridge work is easy but you still use straps on fridges, every 3rd row of cages is supposed to be strapped in and at the rear strapped aswell as barred off.

If you just have one bar at the rear and 45 reasonably heavy cages pushing against it, well there is a good chance something will need to give.

If its all pallets then id just bar it off at the rear.

The perfect job for the op as he sounds a right lazy bassa would be containers, beats everything else hands down for doing next to nothing.

I didnt say fridges are easy because you don’t use straps. I actually did say you can use straps. But using straps hardly means it takes time.

Bar across and strap. 30 seconds. There’s only 2 points to secure. Unless trolleys or moveable then you need more but if you have the equipment to hand takes no time as you put them on as they load it and as there’s only two common rails it’s very modular and systematic as to where you put them. It’s very easy and not like general or flats which requires a bit more thought and time.

Liquid tankers mate, sook it on, blow it off. Nae straps, nae bars… about the only thing you need to do to secure the load is make sure the lid is shut, and the valves are closed !

& your nose is Pegged, if your on the Smelly Old ■■■ Lorry. Lol.

So how about we stand for example with the large 205 litre blue tubs. There are 200 and odd on each trailer to be honest i can’t see a way that they can actually be strap. Do Vosa use common sense when it comes to things like cereals and crisps and empty plastic containers or would they still do you?

I’m getting a bit browned off going to pick up loads that have been loaded only to find it two pallets high and/or the internal straps buried. I do make the fork truck driver unload what needs unloading, but the whole process ends up taking about an hour and I’m sick of it. The fork truck drivers attitude is I’m the only one that moans and I’m just a pain in the arse.

So, let me see if I’ve got this right:-

You’re complaining because you’re being professional enough to do the job properly??

Strange person! :unamused: :unamused:

metcalfe farms are looking for drivers

I like strapping, its like a puzzle.

Don’t you think that’s a little unfair, if you’re the only one on a company trying to do the job right and getting grief for it you’re bound to get a bit brassed off with it.
