Heston MSA

Hi guys does anyone know if we can get to Heston for overnight parking ■■?

Many thanks

Would depend where you are :unamused:

Don’t think ya can at the moment because either way would involve using the weight limited elevated section at some point.

West bound there is an exit along the perimeter road just before you swing right into the lorry park. I’m not sure if you could access the services from there or not.

Cheers
Neilf

PS: Just had a quick look on google maps and it would appear that there is an access onto the westbound service area via Phoenix way. I used to be in there fairly regular for diesel and I don’t ever recall it being gated.

Maybe a quick call to them would confirm it either way.

Neil

Thanks for that
Thought there might be a way. Never mind looks like the new one at cobham

yes- there is a sneaky way in via Phoenix way, but make sure you approach from the west, as there is a width restriction coming from the other direction. The pub by the roundabout is excellent, friendly and has free WiFi, and the nearby chippy is good too.

i was in heston the other day (in a car ) and i didnt see 1 lorry in there

Coming down Cranford Lane westbound the width restriction is 7’0" and applies to any vehicle wider than that apart from buses. You could go through the bus stop to avoid the kerbs but you might get a ticket, I suppose it depends on whos watching you do it!

From M4 east bound take junc 3 south on to A312 Parkway. At the lights turn left onto High Street and signposted Heston, then right at the mini-roundabout (mentioned above where the Queens Head pub is) onto Cranford Lane, then after you go past a rank of shops on the right, turn left into Phoenix Way. Follow this road down and around the left hand bend, through the old barrier system which has been broken for years. This brings you out by the recovery yard at the services and the entrances to the lorry and bus parking areas.
To exit just do a reverse of the above directions, the access road is two way traffic.

There is also a rear exit/entrance to the east bound services

I normally just park at the end of Phoenix Way near the turning area, walk into services, hand keys over, grab a shower and has been mentioned, walk to pub on roundabout.

I’m getting all nostalgic now! I haven’t been to the UK for many months (my colleagues all seem to be getting the GB runs, and I’ve been getting lots of A and CH this year). When I have been to the UK, it almost always means some London work, and parking at Heston (Westbound). When approaching from the West I’ve always come off at J3 and gone in the back way to avoid the alternative - going all the way in to the roundabout on the North circular.

The first time I came in via Phoenix way I came from the East, following a diversion, and didn’t see any width restriction signs until getting to the physical width restriction itself. I drove through the bus stop - I noticed the camera there but at that point it was too late to do anything else really. I didn’t get a ticket of any sort, but of course having a Finnish registered wagon might have had something to do with that.

Once I walked all the way to the little Tesco in Cranford. I wonder if this is a world record of some sort?
