I only passed class c 4 weeks ago and c+e Friday looking forward to getting some experience on both just hope I don’t ding lots of things on the way lol bit nervous of that but I suppose it happens has any one dinged things on ere

Yes
When I first got my licence did a bit of part time work for a local haulier, done a few jobs for him and then he sends me to Liverpool for a Saturday tip. Got to the place and had to reverse off the road onto a factory yard. manged to hit the gate post, so re lined myself and hit the other one. The company still gave me plenty of work after that though.

First week of my first full-time time job had to deliver to a place in Stoke, a side of the road tip so I try and parallel park the artic in to a space between the cars, kept a close eye on the back of the truck but not on the front of the cab, which hit the car in front.

I’ve tried not to make a habit of it, but I’ve had the odd knock in the last 20+ years, usually its due to being distracted or not assessing the situation, quite often it not the tight spot where you do it as you are aware you’re in a tight spot and concentrate, but its the run of the mill manourve where you just let your guard down and miss something and then that horrible crunch!!

The last one was at the start of this year, getting on the Euro Tunnel train, done it loads of times, but this time I was tired, running late and had a bad cold and manged to get it wrong and damaged the belly lockers of the trailer.

I’m sure I’ll have the odd bump along the way and that made me laugh hit the gate post then the other one that sounds about right lol bit nervous of reversing the artic on the first shift and every one watching me but we all have to start from the same boat

I can laugh about it now, but wasn’t when it happened, felt pretty useless as a truck driver and wondered if I’d ever get the hang of it. :frowning:
have a search on here about tips for reversing, most new drivers make the same mistakes and those threads will give you a few pointers, but in the end there is no substitute for experience.

Ye I’ve been reading them mate watched a video to that some one posted Ill feel the same when I do it was the same when I past my bike test jumped straight onto a zx9r thought I’d made a right mistake for the first month couldn’t get on with it at all but after month loved it after 2 months I could ride it like I’d stole it
