First ever shift for heron never again what a nightmare

What when wrong or was management tossers

a bit more info would help really

Class 1or 2

No mangers was fine just a proper ■■■■ job and reversing into very tight busy shops was a challenge in them long rigid vans the ones with massive over hangs just don’t seem to turn and dint help the brakes was dreadful think I need a little bit more experience before doing a job with such tight reversing

Couldn’t do class one only passed class 1 yesterday and have to wait for my licence to come back I’d of preferd class 1

Earn your stripes pal!
You can’t start driving an Artic while being scared of reversing in a rigid.

Class 1 at Heron is worse same shops but double the drops for same money

Ye I no pal need experience dint do bad for first day was a slap box to first time driving a manual truck but Deffo was harder than I thought it would be but you can’t be perfect with only 5hrs under your belt
And ye I no mate class is a lot more drops I no cage work isn’t for me to that it was proper ■■■■ job

I ment real world reversing was harder than I thought it would be not driving a manual truck had that figured out after 5 mins

When you get your Class 1 try the range money not the best but easy work and they will take on new drivers

Cheers mac12 I will do

My class 1 licence should be back from dvla in 2 weeks hopefully

So you’re not doing it because it was challenging, and as you haven’t told us stories of carnage it was a challenge you seemed to have stepped up to, if you go back for another go you’ll find it a bit easier.
The first full time driving job I had was UK tramping with mutli-drops pulling a tilt trailer, (if you don’t know about tilt trailers, ask your granddad  ) it was bloody hard work and I thought I’d taken on more than I should, but it did get me to be able to reverse pretty competently pretty quickly.

No I enjoyed the challenge but hand balling cages off isn’t for me was a bit of a pain in the arse

You would of hated tilt work then.
Personally I quite enjoy a bit of graft and if I’m shifting the goods at least it gets done and I’m not waiting for some living dead in a warehouse to actually get round to the job.

Lol I don’t mind a bit of graft but them cages are a pain I wouldn’t mind a multi drop but with curtins with the stuff been took off with a falk lift lol

Fair enough, worth trying various jobs in the transport industry, hopefully you’ll be able to find one that suits you.

Cages onto a tiny little tail lift isn’t much fun, especially when you are overloaded, as they always are. I hated that! :imp:
Tautliner/curtain sider work is a lot better, and while a good percentage does still come off the tail, my truck’s back door is the tail lift.
A lot more comfortable when maneuvering pallets.

Ye it wasn’t much fun can’t wait to get back at it tho get some reverse time in wasn’t bad just took me a couple of goes were as id like to do it in one go but in my defence it was a busy street and it was tight going in between 2 parked cars with bollards arthere side and it is a busy shop so had the people to contend with to so can’t beat my self up to much
