Hi everybody, I used to work for Hercock Continentals Dover office. worked for them for approx. 17 years. Leicester had Volvos 88 then F10s whilst london had Scanias. I have nice memories of leaving school and starting work there, all the drivers were nice guys. The London driver who got killed in France was Steve Andersen reg.no. of the unit was B256 XOO never forget that Saturday when i got news, I read in the Forum that Dave Coop who was with Steve has since passed away having suffered a heart attack 3/4 year ago.
I thought Johnny Whitbread went to Spain to live, pleased he’s still alive i enjoyed some of his tall stories. haha.
Alf Koski pleased to read he’s still alive, he was quite a good singer with a belly full of beer in the East Cliff hotel.
I rememer so many other drivers names from leicester, if anybody wants to get in touch pleasse do so.
Mark.

Sadly Alf Koski has passed away this week, not sure if anyone who remembers him is still around ? Trucking was his way of life , even 17 years after retiring he was still a trucking enthusiast . RIP

RIP Alf, Sorry to hear this, Alf was a kind considerate man who loved Italy & his driving, have fond memories of him and his old Land Rover, Alf certainly knew how to look after himself if he needed to.
I remember Des in the office at montague road edmonton he was at Howe european in enfield before hercocks i think alfie and john were on howes as well.I used to do uk traction for both companys.Hercocks yard at montague road was owned by j h martin before and a guy called roger colson who ran a six wheel F89 tractor unit it was driven by brian fenwick who later drove for fransen.J h martin did some continental traction for howes my cousin tony harris and terry brittain drove on there, terry sadly passed away a month or so he lived near clacton.
hi, i used to admire hercocks 88s, i was but a nipper and one of my jobs was to fill up visitors wagons who called for fuel, due to being in the t,a,
they were all decent lads and had what would now be show quality wagons,
if any of their drivers visited aspatria in the early 70s i fuelled the wagons for them, yungnad.
if catch who keeps putting grey hairs in my bunk through night, i,ll ?
Interesting post.
I hope David finds big ■■■■ and little ■■■■

Des packed it in, and the rest is now history. Got some photos somewhere I will add to this thread at some time, got to find 'em first.
Kevin is doing well and still running to Switzerland for HPC Swiss Express, His son Dan is now a driver, and following in his Dads footsteps.
i bought an ex hercock 112 from [Keith] i run it for 8 or 9 years mostly on Laser then on Maritime in the UK when it soon became clear that gv9 had became pg9. anyway Alife and John always gave me a warm welcome. Other than that any words from me about the name still being on the unit and the offers i had at the gas station just before the Mistral may not be true.
that would be about the same time you became a fleet owner, alan, i remember it well.
Hi Bob, yes about that time. i made a note on the other posting. concorezzo then down to rogerado. I,m in my Dutch office by Maastricht airport. Couple of reloads did,nt come off so just waiting for rush hour to finish.Took nearly 7 hours to get from Dover to Calais yesterday . Bet you miss it. :
Verona i think. Gottardo Ruffoni
Sorry for the quality of the first two, but here we have my old motor E66 YJN parked outside of the SKF plant at Airasca, south of Turin. The second was taken somewhere on the Italian side of the Frejus on the way home.
Hi,
Hercocks .
Good times had by all…
Hi Hanson,
S. John haulage from Bedford had a unit pulling for Hercocks around '75/'76 running to Basel every week with an N-reg F.88, Mick Brent was the driver he also did a bit for Leggetts European, I’m not sure where Mick went after he finished at S. Johns.
S. John also had 6 or 7 units pulling for Seabourne Express out of Barking in the seventies running to Northern Europe and Scandinavia.
Keep hunting, photos will always keep turning up from the most unlikely places!
Good luck
