I remember **Hercocks…**I thought they were still going…? The drivers I knew were all from London. I don`t think it was the driving that caused your dads ill health. I have done it all my life ,including the trip a week to Italy when it was fashionable. It could have been poor diet , smoking , ect. I always thought I would get heart probs because of stress & little sleep on fridge work ( The old day & night routine ) but I actually thrived on it. I gave trucking up when I was well over 66 just because I was bored with UK work . I still pass the medical every year. The old saying that hard work killed no one turned out to be true, but Fry-ups & ■■■■ will.
Welcome Hanson, yes I remember them by seeing them on my own runs to Italy but also in earlier days on tippers and the fleet they ran out of Leicester. That would be in the 70s I should think.
Would that be theb same co.that ran scanias and had brown livery?
Regards Dave
hercocks originated in leicester but when they finished there was a small amount of scanias based at edmonton this finished as well eventually.they did have tippers mainly on coal .as mr hercock has died one of the sons now runs a builders merchants in melton mowbary leics with trucks still in the original brown/orange livery.

Hi all. I used to work in the office in Edmonton before leaving in early 90,s
to become a London Cabbie. Recently picked up the “Coffee to go” book
and it led me to here. Presume all the drivers have retired by wondered
if anyone sees Dave Coop,John Whitbread,Alf Koski or any of the
others. Cheers Paul.
Hi Paul, How did you get on with the knowledge?
Regards Dave.
gunnerheskey:

These were Edmonton based vehicles, I think F355KEV was Dave Coopers vehicle from new.
Dave.
