Help with wide load, what do I need?

Hi, I have to pick up an antivandal toilet block next week and am unsure on the wide load regs.
It’s 10’x17’ being transported from northampton to cardiff. I’m aware that because it’s over 9’6" it needs side markers, length isn’t an issue though as the flatbed is 21’.
What I need to know though is do the police need notification? I’ve read through a few links I’ve found on here but can’t seem to find a definate answer.
Also, where do I get marker boards, and which ones??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Mike.

You will need marker boards front and rear of the load and 2 days notice given to the police.

a quick guide

upto 2.9m overall need nothing done

2.9-3.5m need markers front and rear plus 2 days police notifcation

over 3.5m needs the above plus a 2nd man.

I think anyway

I thought so. Thanks. Better let the boss know then, he thinks I can just carry it as a normal load!!

All you need is marker boards,There is regs on size & composition of boards but I`m out of touch with things like that these days. Just make some up yourself bit of ply red & white paint.

simples then
why not just answer question that op asked (yes you have but in a more technical way), great if you do know all the regs but very confusing if you dont :unamused: (no im am not having a pop at u)

Enquire of your local caravan delivery company, they do 10’ and 12’ wide loads all the time.

markers at front and rear and need to give a route to all police forces you will be travelling through 2 days in advance and if they have any problems with you using that route they will inform you of an alternative route

I am not sure what you meant, he said he cannot find a definitive answer. My post is definitive.

He asks if he needs to notify police, and the same definitive answer tells him that he must give 2 days notice to each area he is travelling through.

For anyone whose job may involve carrying long, wide or heavy loads, they would probably print this guide off and keep it with their documents, or leave it to the professionals.

i meant just answer his question in a simple way. i am not knocking your answer as such just as he seems to be new to wide loads best keep it as simple as possible,
as for the info you posted it should be made a sticky for further reference.
as said not having a go at you “honest”

And as there are many "professionals. on here , :sunglasses:
surely it doesnt hurt to help /nurture those who are not in the know or learning to attain guidance and achieved better standards from their peers :open_mouth:

Short answer , Yes he does need to notify Police of abload with those dimensions stated and route with minimum prior notice.

Ive posted some links in post above to help guide his process :grimacing:

Thanks for the replies chaps.

It’s funny you say that mate, I see them all the time running through to west wales and in the services, but when you want one to chat to they’re no where to be seen!
