So I passed my class2 2 month ago, just started a job a week ago to then find my card is faulty.
Have just been training upto now but Monday I think I’m on my own and want to make sure I’m doing the prints correct and filling it right.
Upto now iv just literally just been putting my details on the back and jotting down in list order what iv been doing etc. Other work, driving, break and there respective time periods.

No. You’ve got it all wrong. It’s not a manual entry that you need to do, it’s a printout.
I’ve never done one without a card in, but I assume it will work as follows.
Start the day. Push the buttons on the tacho until it says printout 24hrs, to which you say yes and choose today’s date
During the day you operate the mode switches as normal (for break or other work)
At the end of the day do another printout for the vehicle. (That printout minus your earlier one which might have nothing, is all of your activity.) Keep both of these printouts with you while driving for the next 28 days.
