Well if he has to tip through the back doors at some point he should get plenty of advice from some of the posters on this thread, as they do seem to come across as back door trading experts
You learn nothing much on the CPC…certainly not how to use every type of fastening or door mechanism. Some folk seem to have forgotten there was a time they didn’t know how curtains worked…
■■■■■.
Yeah no one knows everything well except carryfast but a curtain mechanism is hardly the rubiks cube and as the op says he had an hour to kill I’m sure he could of worked it out by then.

so none of this is covered on the drivers C.P.C then ?and thats a simple question by the way not a dig … im shocked .
Nope not covered. To be honest i haven’t got a clue how to open the curtains either.
im struggling to understand this so maybe its more a fault with me than the O.P , but i dont understand how new drivers spend thousands getting a licence and then sit for 35hrs D.C.P.C and cant even open a curtain . do they really know what the job is ?
the way things are done now is wrong , and believe im not having a dig but that is wrong … im not trying to insult anyone or drag anyone down but i honestly thought this thread was a wind up … you live and learn and today ive learned … blimey .
its over to you new drivers on this one im out … shocking .

+1
I’m glad I don’t drive lorries now with all the auto boxes and the trauma of opening a curtain on a tautliner. The job must be so tough now!
There seems to be a complete lack of common sense among lorry drivers nowadays
I’m not just referring to the latest ‘silly’ question, but all of the ‘silly’ questions
If you ask these ‘silly’ questions on public forums, unless you’re doing it to entertain the rest of us, you’ll probably not like the answers you’re going to get
A bit of common sense would first see you trying to work it out for yourself, then when you couldn’t do that, you call a close friend and ask them, that way it limits the amount of ■■■■ taking you receive You will have the ■■■■ taken out of you for asking a ‘silly’ question, we all do/did/have

I haven’t been near a lorry since i passed in 2011. The lorry i was taught in was a box rigid FM12 on a 52 reg. I need to book my Mod 4 now and i will ask the question about opening curtains but i am a quick learner and if i am shown i will pick it up first time.

Matt,Just ignore the smart arse comments above, you had a problem, you asked for help and thankfully the first reply was a positive one
I wonder why some of the people on this forum bother owning computers because they already seem to know everything
Even if i didnt know i wouldnt be asking on here, rather than look a right womans piece, i would probably asked another driver or work it out your self… i didnt have my arse wiped ,a lot of the time we learn from our own mistakes…its a learning curve called trucking.
