Any body know of any companys within about a 15 mile radius of the Seaham/Peterlee are that would take on a new Class 2 driver? passed my test in May, gave my details to a few companies and applied for quite a few jobs, but can’t even get an interview

Co-op at Birtley are always taking on, ring the transport department and ask which agency they use up there, you may have to go in via agency first to get your foot in, but we ALWAYS take on new drivers.
Transport manager is Jim Dean, used to be TM at Nottingham RDC, I won’t tell you to mention me, you might not get the job then

The way i got my foot in the door and got enough experience for companies to notice me was to sign up with all the agencies around and take anything offered. It seems the only way these days unless you get lucky
Good luck
I know how you feel. Its so frustrating. I can’t even get agency work where I am. I even tried driver hire and they haven’t even bothered to get me in to register despite me registering online and calling them up. I hope you get something soon.

A great experience builder is driving the bin lorries, usually this time of year they are pretty flexible on who they take on. Just find your local depot and ask what agency they use.
Just an idea and hope it helps (it worked for me when i started out)

Co-op at Birtley (Chester-le-Street) use Best Connection in Sunderland. I did a couple of shifts there - it wasn’t so much a driving job as a labouring job for someone with a LGV licence. My last (8 hr) Co-op shift involved a total of 1 hr 20 mins driving.
Give Best Connection a try - they got me work within 2 days of registering and welcome newbies.
If you are really desperate and prepared to work for peanuts, Northern Freight on the NW Ind Estate at Peterlee seem to get through a lot of drivers (and use agency sometimes, again Best Connection). You need to actually get in front of the TM (owner) as CVs seem to get filed and forgotten. The last I heard they were paying C1 drivers £6.25 and C+E £7.25 so C will be somewhere between.
PM me if you want more info.
Good luck
Alan
Fowler Welch will take new drivers they tend to use the agency in Washington used to be Washington Secretarial Services not sure what they called now but in Concorde if you prepared to travel that far
