Hi can anyone help: I have just had the EDC module on the Bosch diesel pump replaced due to failure (rubbish design IMHO) and now the cruise control no longer works.
The company that did the pump are trying to tell me that the EDC on the diesel pump has nothing to do with cruise control, which doesn’t seem right from what I read. There is a big bit in the user manual describing the RSG/cruise control under the chapter EDC.
Also the cruise control was previously a bit intermittent and when it refused to come on the EDC light would flash on, so they are clearly related, and I believe the cruise function is done by the EDC. So:
Is it true that the diesel pump EDC contains the RSG/ cruise control electronics?
Has anyone else had this issue?
Note neither the cruise or alternative maximum speed limit system work. The light on the cruise control stick comes on for a few seconds at ignition on and goes out, indicating that it is there and no faults are found, I think. Similarly the EDC light does the same.
Has cruise just been disabled in the EDC maybe?
Sort of hoping there is a quick fix and not worth spending a lot of money on this.
Bking:
Check for loose connections to or a faulty brake light switch. This will knock out the cruise control. Also clutch switch.
Those switches would be my first port of call too. There’s not much adjustment on them and they do go wrong, if your brake lights aren’t stuck on I’d look at the switch on the clutch pedal. Might be worth trying unplugging the clutch one and see if your cruise control works. They’re a proximity switch mounted above the pedal at the pivot.
Thanks for those replies. Already checked brake light, will try disconnecting clutch switch. The fact that it packed up after the diesel pump electronics, EDC, was changed, has got me thinking that that is somehow involved. Like the software has not been enabled properly.
