Help! I need some London route advice

I’ve got a delivery at e2 8by, Taylor wimpey site, on the a10. To save a lot of crap I planned to come off the a14 at Huntingdon > get on the old north road > and follow the a10 all the way. But it’s sending my truck nav divvy once in London.

My question is can I stay on the a10 through London?

Can’t see any bridges on google maps (truck atlas is in my truck so can’t check that now), but is there weight limits meaning I can’t go this way or if there is can I go through them for access?

Cheers.

I take it you want to come down the 1198 to Royston then all the way in :open_mouth: Why on earth would you do that? Anyway, that’s Laburnum Street, which is the wrong side of the weak bridge at Dalston. You need to come up the A10 from Shoreditch mate. Either come in on the A1, or M11 A12, whichever you’re most comfortable with

It’s a nice run down the old North road, been that way many times. It’s not actually on Laburnam str but somewhere near it on the a10. Apparently I’ll see the site once there. Cheers for the advice bout the weak bridge. That’s answered my question. Will have a little look and come up from the south.

I agree it’s picturesque, but it’ll put over an hour on the journey. That postcode was Laburnum Street so I’d guess that site is just south of the bridge. It’s not the worse place in London to go to be fair. But then again, I don’t mind doing London with an artic

As said above you’ve got a weak Bridge at Dalston 18t if I remember rightly, there is a diversion route for hgv’s but it’s a bit of a mission. Lowest Bridges I can think of are at Shoreditch and south Tottenham both 15ft 6in

Thinking of a1> a501 > a5201 > a10

There’s a low bridge on the a5201 and a10 but I’m running at 14’ 3" (actually lower but that’s what I run at) so should be ok with the bridges which are higher on the 5201 and a10.

That’s bang on mate

Nah it doesn’t put an hour on. outside of rush hour it’s more like 20 minutes extra. If I’m heading back up and need somewhere to park for the night I go up the a10 and park at the silver ball. Get a cracking meal there included in the parking ticket.

What a crap day. When I rang up the contact the day before I was told it was on the a10 - don’t go down a side road, and you’ll see the vans. Gets there, and nothing. So pulled up on a red route to ring them. Signs were up saying about cameras. I know I should’ve tried to find somewhere else to stop but don’t like driving round and round and winging it. What’s the chances I get a fine and how much could it be? It turned out it was on the side road I asked about the day before ffs.

Trying to locate delivery site, customer should pay the fine if you’re going to get one.

I did everything I could. Rang the day before and got instructions. Arranged to be there at 8:30am. Hit London around 7:15am so couldn’t ring him after that as nowhere to stop to ring him and consult google maps. No hands free as it doesn’t work. And in any case I needed to concentrate on missing the mopeds and push bikes. If I’d carried on up the a10 there’s a weight restricted bridge so only other option was to wing it down a narrow side street and hope for the best which I didn’t want to do as I’d been told don’t go down a side street when I rang the day before. I will argue my case if there is a fine.

When I finally got there the tail lift decided it didn’t want to work so had to arrange a side tip, then a traffic warden (one of the knobs in the blue) came up and asked how long I’d be. Said hopefully 30 minutes. He said that’s too long!!! Baring in mind it’s a full artic load. 2 hours later finally got it all off. Thankfully he didn’t come back. Oh and to get there had to go under a 14’3" bridge with cars parked under so lost 3 inches by having to mount the kerb. Just got under.

I hate London.

Let us know how that goes for you if you ever try it!

Tris, don’t worry mate, I’ve unloaded on double reds before, there’s no use in fretting about a fine, if it happens, it happens. Until then it’s not worth your brain space.

Googled it, it’s only £60 anyway if you pay straight away. Going Scotch on Monday so a nice relaxing drive.

Farm seed deliveries should start soon too. Give me that any day over London. Irony is it’s a lot harder, but I’m more in my comfort zone in the sticks.
