Help - How to track down a trucks history

Hi all.

It would be great to know how to track down a trucks history. Who brought it new, and who has owned it since.

What brought the thought to my head was Hastings Transports Cargo tractor E757 YYB. I know it was once owned by a chap called “Scotty” and before that it was owned by “Kevin Dennis” of Skegness.

I am trying to tack its history more and have no idea how to go about it. Any help would be great (not in tracking down the truck but in telling me how. However, if you know something about E767YYB then that would be great also)

Andy

Hi Andy,
It has a Somerset reg.no. if that is any help !
Regards MaggieD

The reg no. is not in the DVLA computer, so it looks like the vehicle has been scrapped. You can contact DVLA and pay them sone beer vouchers and they will supply a list of owners.

Its not been scrapped. the taxdisc website says the following:

The enquiry is complete

The vehicle details for E757 YYB are:

The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry.

It could be that you searched Ford not Iveco-Ford (as this is)

Thanks so far guys. Like I say, I aam not after info from you guys, just help in knowing what to do to track one down.

Thanks

Andy

its still insured as well, as a ford vintage lorry

How did you find that out BDGB?

its not 100% geezah but it works on most i’ve tried (9 out of 10 vehicles i knew for sure were insured when i tested it one day)
put the reg in and tick the little box underneath askmid.com/ownvehicle/

Right guys. I have done some more digging of E757YYB and foud a (near) sister truck. E765YYB, a Unigate Cargo. Could this mean that 757 was once a Unigate machine?

could well be, just means it was registered in taunton in 87/88
it depends how many they bought

could it have been registered by wincantons

curnock:
could it have been registered by wincantons

Not sure. Were they a Cargo (Tractor) buying firm?

yes geezah they were, in the 80’s and certainly in the 90’s they were one of the biggest players

Ahh, cool. I have never seen one. Unless they ran in contractors liveries.

Thanks for the help again guys.

Andy

they had the contract for unigate in the 80s/90s,and most of there wagons where registered yb or yc

Cool. I did not know that. Interesting. Thanks guys.

Andy
