Help for heroes at Christmas

I ain’t ex forces myself, but I have utmost respect for those who are. I know a lot of ex forces lads, and 2 young lads who are currentlly serving in the RM.

I just thought that if anybody is thinking of being charitable at Christmas, you could do a lot worse than a contribution here.

This clip is to post messages of thanks mainly to those down on their luck, many of these guys have lost limbs, many have PTSD, others are just finding it hard to adapt to civilian life.

Also any donations would be greatly received…(.I have no connections to this charity personally btw)

There was a homeless lad who was sat outside Caffe Nero where I live a couple of years ago at Christmas time, sat in an Army jacket.

I took him a coffee out and had a conversation with him that I won’t forget, ..he had served in Helmaand and witnessed all sorts of sh including losing one mate and another who lost an arm and a leg in the same attack that he survived, he told me he felt a sense of guilt for that, came home like a bear with a sore arse and fell out with his girlfriend getting kicked out…..he went on to tell me he was going for ‘‘therapy’’ .

He thought I was ex forces, but kinda ‘‘clammed up’’ when I told him I wasn’t….must be an ‘‘Army thing ‘ I don’t know.

I left him a tenner and felt admittedlly pleased with myself after his display of gratitude….I saw him a couple of times after where he always shouted hello to me and my wife, I took him a coffee a couple of times after, then never saw him again, hoping he had sorted himself out.

That is just one example, there are numerous more cases up and down the country.

I’ve got to admit I posted this after seeing a vid of Ricky Thomlnson aka Jim Royle, in a video of him urging us to help asylum seekers after their ‘Escape from war ‘‘b/s…..(yeah I know my pet hate/’favourite subject again …yawn yawn :smiley:)

My immediate thought was ‘‘Aye ■■■■ that’‘ :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:….then I thought of the you tube clip of the ex soldier homeless, like the guy previously mentioned, but sat opposite a migrant hotel saying ‘‘This time last year I was fighting half of those ■■■■ s’’.

Anyhoo I’ve said my piece….over to yours.

You can send your messages for free to me - I’m a veteran. :grin:

Yeah…..but I ain’t being nice to YOU.

:wink::joy:

Cruel to be kind Rob.There were many many more who were conscripted to fight WW2 who were then demobbed on the basis of go back to work in civilian life or go without.

^^^^^^

Yeah and they executed soldiers with PTSD in WW1, it doesn’t say that it has any relavance today.
