Just plugged a new cf in to Texa and i’m getting 55-31 EBS back up valve open circuit. I have never had this one before, don’t even know where the ‘back up valve’ is, if there is anyone out there that can help me?
training.bova.nl/files/vdlbd … 2905_r.pdf have a look at this, could the back up valve be the one on the backside of the diff housing

You have a fault in either the redundancy valve or wiring …thats if 55-31 is the same fault code DAF use
yep redundancy valve (thats what the back up valve is for, incase the ebs packs up the redundancy valve kicks in and reverts to air braking)
on dafs it should be just approx 1 foot infront of the 5th wheel, you have the big trailer control valve bolted to the x-member and just to the n/s is the redudancy valve,
you can check the resistance through the valve , off the top of my head it maybe approx 60 ohms , although i could give you the exact ohms on monday if need be
Nothing wrong with the top of your head ,you where just about spot on …the coil resistance is 68 ohms plus or minus 4 @ 20 degrees c…
i maybe losing my marbles but at least my memory isnt to bad (at the minute)
though he may have problems finding the redundancy valve if the vehicle is an FT ,as it won’t have one ,but i think the wiring may be there …i know on FA rigids they still have the trailer control loom even if it doesn’t have a trailer control valve …and occassionally the ebs gets a rogue signal so to speak which makes it think it has one

i had a DAF 95XF that persistantly came up with an EBS warning, the truck did not have EBS
cost me a lot of money to try and find the fault by the mechanic i used for his diagnostics and also the DAF dealer
in the end, it turned out that the ABS/EBS ECU had a hissy fit and woke up one morning and decided that it now did have EBS, but, when it couldn’t find the valve that should be situated on the rear of the diff, it came up with the EBS open circuit fault
had to take it in to a dealer for them to put the DAVIE on it, wipe the ABS/EBS ECU memory completely, and re-install the software, that cured it
Well the wagon was a 8x4 tipper, found a valve in the middle of the chassis that did look sumat like pulled like heck on wires and one broke exposing the ‘green death’, repaired the wiring and jobsa dream. Thanks for the help!!
sometimes when you fix things like that the ecu wont clear itself
the easiest/cheapest way to try first, is to disconnect battery 24v+ and battery 24v- and join both battery leads together for a few minutes to hopefully discharge any faults that maybe in various ecus

you have to be carefull putting the batt leads together this can somtimes wipe customer parameters in ecus
had ebs abs faults on a cf anr it turned out to be the exciter rings

there are loads of faults you can get in an EBS system
