Help & Advice needed

All, just passed my class 2 and going for class 1 in a few weeks. Been driving for over 20 years and have a lot of 7.5t exp. How come some agencies take you on and give you work but some just blatantly lie to you telling you that there is nothing on but on their sites there are lots of adverts, which I’m beginning to suspect are not accurate. Been trying to get a full time job with a few firms but so far no answer, the question is how do I get experience without any one giving me a chance. There seems to be a lot of work around Berks/Surrey/Hants area but how do I get in…?

Driver Hire seem to have a good rep on here for getting newbies some work.

You will find a lot in your situation on the NEW AND WANNABE forum

Perseverance

Good Look with the job hunt but you’ll probably have to take on a low paid crappy job to get your foot on the ladder

Has to be said though, it is most useful when folks show their location next to their user name.

Over time, we get a lot of “Anybody know of anything around here” type questions, with no clue as to where “here” is!

They’re not necessarily lying to you - a lot of agencies will advertise jobs that don’t exist. It doesn’t cost them anything to keep a driver on their books, but if business suddenly picks up and they don’t have enough drivers to fulfill their clients’ requirements, that does cost them money (and reputation).
