Hello Everyone. Newby here, rough and ready... sort of!

Hi all

Came accross this forum the other day and wish I had found it sooner! I never even thought to look when I started my training and I could have benefitted so much.

I passed my C in april and my C+E hurridley in June before Drivewell driving school comes to a close in Darlington… the end of an era.

I have been driving coaches for a few years and so already had a D and D1 licence. Now I need a job. Applied for agency work the other day so will wait and see. Anyone else in the Middlesbrough area know of any work going? Most places that take noobs are fully staffed with it being a quiet time of year, ie Bulmers, David Fox etc.

I was really nervous about everything until I started reading on here, you dont learn about all the different trailers and loads etc when you do your test. There is so much helpful information on here that has helped my knowledge already, and so many people who take their time to provide information and pictures. Unfortunately when you are new in the PSV world bus/coach drivers are not like this, they make you out to be stupid in a lot of cases and come out with the old… you should know that, its easy or “well when you have done the miles I have done, I have covered more in reverse than you have forwards”. So you guys are a breath of fresh air.

One lucky thing for me was that a close friend is an owner driver and needed an job covering a few weeks ago so I was lucky enough to get my hands on his cutomised MAN TGA XXL to deliver some empty tanks on a 40ft skeletal. I was made up.

Many thanks!

Myself and a friend who was laid off when wincantons shut their Skelton hub are going visiting tomorrow. Not sure what to wear though, think a suit may be ott so will go smart casual. I reckon with a little time on my hands it could be a good idea to get in for my ADR?

If you want your ADR speak with Deiseldave or do a search on here as he is your man

I know some of the companies in your area not sure what they are all like to work for

I’d heartily recommend getting your ADR, with both Tanks and Packages.

My new employers, Imperial Tankers are looking for drivers at the moment, they are at Billingham.

This is only my 2nd job in haulage, so had nothing really to compare them to, but I did enquire in various places and I got no negative feedback at all, with quite a bit of positive feedback.

It’s all chemical work, so you’ll need your ADR, but I’d recommend it as it opens far more doors for you.

I notice you’ve not had your CE long, you get a driving assessment at Imperial and the trainer there is on the records as preferring ‘noobs.’

Not sure he needs a search. :grimacing:

:open_mouth: The racket you lot are are making has woken me up.

I’m not usually hard to find.

 Hi zippy!, WELCOME. :grimacing:

and
:grimacing: CONGRATULATIONS on your C+E test pass

I’d agree with matchbox about an ADR licence opening some other doors for you.

If you’d like to do your ADR, I could supply you with a few contact details in your area.
The only provider in your neck of the woods that I have taught for is N.E.T.A. in Billingham.
There are other providers in your area, but I’ve had no dealings with them.

:grimacing: Let me know??

Thanks everyone.

Yes I had heard NETA mentioned though I heard they are at teesport.

Funnily enough myself and a friend who has experience and ADR popped in to imperial tankers today though I had not yet read the last few messages until now and didnt bother to get an application as I didnt think they would be the slightest bit interested.

Had a few positive leads though, Prestons (at potto not FVS who wern’t interested) seemed interested, as were NT Whitfields. I got application forms from Bulmers, Bertschi, Wincanton (Han Davies) to name a few. The agency I have applied to reckoned some work might arise in the next 2 or so weeks.

Another frined reccommended visiting all of the agencies in Middlesbrough which are conveniently all on one street.

We will get there!!!

Do you think I should mention that I have the first 2 modules of the haulage national cpc and a full international psv cpc or will they see me as a know all?

I would register with all the agencies you can and let them ask some of the questions

have to go see David Fox in morning
