Hello all.

Hello all,

I’ve been drifting around the forums for a few months now, but I have only now registered. I’m 18, from Portsmouth and have just passed my Cat C second time round on the 5th. I’m now working towards my CPC Module 4 and hope to have that done by Christmas.

I’ve been into motors since a young age and then went for my car license shortly after turning 17. I spent 2 years at college finding that I could never do a job stuck in an office. After seeing numerous drawbars from a training company trundle by every day I decided to take the leap and get my Cat C.

When I finally started driving the 18T Mercedes Atego I found that it came quite naturally to me (however I put the mirror in the hedge twice in as many minutes) and was driving mainly without instruction on the third day. I took my test on the 6th day, screwed up the reverse, then 5 minutes in to the test went in a bus lane a few minutes before the restriction ended which caused me a major on traffic signs, so I failed with 1 major and 6 minors.

Second test rolled around 3 weeks later, it started snowing heavily in the early morning so I had my first snow driving experience in the dark, in a truck, on my test day, so that was rather daunting (all in a day’s work for a professional driver, but I found it quite nerve wracking). I took my test a few hours later, nailed the reverse, and returned to Guildford with a massive 13 minor faults. It is however a pass, and I am happy with the result!

Hoping to settle in around here and get to know everyone.

Hi, welcome and good luck with MOD 4.

Pete

well done on passing the test, under bad conditions too from the sound of it. good luck with the mod 4 , passed my mod 4 this week but failed the pratical, first attemp. similare to you, got a small handful of minors but acouple of majors. see you trained in a merc atros, what kind of gear box did it have ?

Well done! Doesn’t matter how many minors you get, a pass is a pass! Good luck with module 4, you’ll get that easily, just remember to point out everything when asked to do a vehicle check.

Well won’t be getting module 4 done before Christmas. Earliest I could get was 4th of Jan.

I don’t know a whole lot about the gearboxes, but I think it was a 6 speed splitter.
