yes I thought 4.3m worked out at 169.29 inches which is 14ft1 but coffee worked it out to 14ft10 so I wasn’t sure if my calculations were any good?

I was just trying to confuse things, I didn’t do any working out and just typed any old ■■■■■■■■. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s my new policy on here as it’s getting a bit boring.

thats a good policy i like it

that’s a good plan but we have lots of other users already doing that

Or do we?

in Kettering today with a trailer running at 4.2 metre
on road sign low bridge 14ft 4.2 metres
now 13ft 9 is 4.2 metres so i didnt take the chance

So easy innit:

google.co.uk/#hl=en&source=h … f2502a6627

Is 14.7 legal in Spain?

Whoever puts the signs up in Kettering isn’t very good at doing metric/imperial conversions.

There is another low bridge on Northampton Road which is marked up as 13’ 0" and 3.9m

With all the hassle that bridge bashes cause, you’d think the authorities would take it more seriously.

It’s ok to be cautious with what the signs say, but surely the measurements and then conversions should be accurate.

A few inches can make all the difference

if 14ft7 is 4.45m then no

Denis F:
I can see how they got it wrong

from theonlineconverter.co.uk/length-converter/

4.3 Metre (m) = 14.107 611 549 Foot (ft)

a numpty could read that as 14feet, 10 inches instead of 14 feet and O.10 feet ( almost 1 1/4 inches)

:grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

now what’s this about Coffeeholic getting something wrong ? :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Now i am only a stupid lorry driver who can’t count above 5…or is it 4? but I do know a little about decimals. Remembering that there are 12 inches in a foot, I would say that 14.107611549 rounded to the nearest inch is 14’10". If it was 14’1 it should be 14.017611549

so using your knowledge of decimals then,
14.25 rounded to the nearest inch would be 14ft 25inches :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
whereas it would be 14ft 3 as .25 is a quarter :bulb:

Anyone know if this test is included in the DCPC? - looks like it could be useful to some on here…

Remember, feet and inches are NOT metric, so 14 is the number of feet and the 107611549 is the number of inches, 14.25 feet would in fact be 14’ 3" because .25 of a foot (12 inches) is 3 the website for conversions is mixing imperial and metric which is bound to cause confusion. it certainly has with me! :open_mouth:

you’re the one thats mixing imperial and metric. in your example you 14.107611549 is 14ft 1 inch but .107611549 is the decimal equivalent of the fraction one tenth therefore one tenth of a foot is 1.2 inches

So how would you show 14’ 11"? 14.9166666666667? (11 / 1.2)
Or as I have size 11 feet, does that mean i have .91666666667 of a foot? Anyway, mine are webbed, you get them alot around rural Oxfordshire!
