Heavy snow for the end of the week

early indications look like the same areas that had it worst last week could well be getting it again thu/fri and quite possibly all the way through christmas.

i know its coming but i dont need reminding. the weather cost me a fortune last week in lost wages

I bet it snows on Christmas day and i end up getting stuck in a ditch for hours

Please let it snow thursday night/friday as it’s my birthday friday and i cant get the day off as it’s fully booked  just around Brackley area will be fine, dont want anybody else to be stuck for the weekend

I hope Carryfast knows about this, he should just have time to load and blow up the tyres on his DD powered 8x4 x45’ drawbar gritter for the end of the week.

Can everyone try their best to jack-knife their lorries, dont want the public to think we have become professional drivers by not jack-knifing.

bit late we have around 3ins and its still falling here in Dortmund

I don’t really mind snow and snowing let alone white Christmas, but this time I hope the main fallout in the UK will be after 5am Fri 17th - when I’ll be boarding 6am ferry to Dunkerque.
And I also hope we’ll meet only as much snow as will allow us to get to my parents place in SK within 3days… well, by the 24th in the worst case

cheers for that you have just cursed us both!!! And I am stuck at a little steel works in rawtenstall - at least I know how to blame now when I am trying to reverse up a hill and break neck turn half way to get to the loading bay!!!

An unusually early, harsh winter will take another hard swipe at the U.K. this week as a sharp arctic outbreak triggers substantial falls of snow.

The leading edge of arctic cold and snow will blast into Scotland from the north at midweek, reaching southern England by Thursday afternoon, local time.

This powerful weather system will bring widespread light snow and also significant windswept snowfall on a more localized basis.

Icy road surfaces as well as blowing and drifting snow will dog drivers in many areas.

This scenario will also play out in neighboring Ireland and on adjacent mainland Europe.

Friday through Sunday, further outbreaks of snow, some heavy, will strike the U.K. and areas of northwestern Europe, although details as to the likely whereabouts of heaviest snow will not be clear until later in the week. Nonetheless, these outbreaks could trigger road and airport closures.

AccuWeather.com Meteorologist and Climate Expert Joe ■■■■■■■■ has said that the first week of December was the coldest opening week of the month since 1879 in central England. What is more, it was the second coldest such week here since earliest records began to be taken in 1659.

In London, a two-week interval from late November to early December was colder than normal by an average of 11.5 F. Birmingham, England, was 14.0 F colder than normal.

In Scotland, the same span of time was colder than normal be 12.0 F in Aberdeen, Scotland, and a stunning 15.1 F in Edinburgh.

Exceptionally heavy snowfalls beset stretches of northeast and south England, as well as Aberdeen and Edinburgh, Scotland. Edinburgh suffered multiple closures of its busy airport as up to 30 inches of snow fell regionally.

Im being deadly serious, i hope it all lands in Warrington. :grimacing:

on the only second time of seeing heavy snow in the forest,i worked both thu/fri days when half the other drivers woud’nt even come out. :open_mouth:
the six of us who did earned a fortune, easy 400 over 2 days with day of on sat, then cleared 200+ on sunday for 9hr shift.

let it snow let it snow.

I imagine it will be a bit fresh in Whitby while I am stuffing my bird :stuck_out_tongue:

We got off lightly when the last lot hit so i’m not bothered if it comes or not but i was watching a programme the other day (fire and ice or summat along those lines) and it threw up some interesting info about how they cope with the cold…found this link about the village concerned but was unsure whether to put it here or let Curryfart or Snogthedog and his band of merry followers have a little chew on it in the ‘‘Advice for driving on ice’’ or wotever its called thread. If i can find the programme, i’ll put a link up…they think its ruff, sorry rough, in Canada, this lot sell milk in 12" slabs
